🧚‍♀️✨ A Magical Fairy Day with Our Special Horse Visitors! 🐴💜

Our Fairy Day was made even more magical with a very special visit from our beautiful horses! From our tiniest Doves in the baby room to our confident graduates, every child had the opportunity to meet, stroke and interact with these gentle animals.

Watching the children approach the horses with such curiosity, care and excitement was truly heartwarming. Some were eager to gently stroke them, while others preferred to observe from a distance before building the confidence to join in. These meaningful moments helped children develop empathy, resilience and self-confidence as they explored something new in a safe and nurturing environment.

As the children shared their excitement, asked questions and talked about what they could see, hear and feel, they naturally developed their communication and language skills. They also deepened their understanding of the world by learning about the horses, how to care for them and the importance of treating animals with kindness and respect. Every gentle stroke and interaction supported their physical development too, encouraging coordination, body awareness and careful control of their movements.

The benefits extended beyond the children. Spending time with the horses created a calm and positive atmosphere throughout the nursery, offering valuable wellbeing benefits for our staff too. The therapeutic nature of being around animals encouraged everyone to slow down, be present and enjoy a shared experience that brought smiles to all.

At Doves, we believe the most meaningful learning happens through real-life experiences. Days like these bring the EYFS to life, allowing children to grow in confidence, build relationships, develop communication skills and explore the world around them in memorable and engaging ways.

A huge thank you to our wonderful horses and their handlers for helping to make Fairy Day such a magical experience. We created memories that will stay with our Doves—and our team—for a long time to come. 💜🐴✨

Our children enjoyed exploring a variety of patterns, lines and shapes using chunky pens and mark-making resources. Activities like these help to develop the foundations needed for future writing by strengthening hand muscles, improving pencil control and encouraging concentration. The children practised different movements such as zig-zags, waves and straight lines, building confidence while expressing their own creativity. Every mark made is an important step on their early literacy journey!

At nursery we place great value on helping children build meaningful friendships and learn how to care for others. Through play, exploration and shared experiences, the children develop important social skills such as kindness, empathy, turn-taking and cooperation. Watching friendships blossom and seeing children support one another helps create a nurturing environment where everyone feels safe, valued and included. These early relationships provide the foundations for emotional wellbeing and future success.

The children had so much fun exploring role-play accessories, dressing up in sunglasses and bags while creating their own characters and stories. Role play supports children’s communication and language development, confidence, imagination and social skills as they act out real-life experiences and scenarios. It also allows children to express themselves, build self-esteem and develop an understanding of the world around them in a fun and meaningful way. We loved seeing their personalities shine through!

Our children enjoyed a vibrant sensory activity exploring colourful rice, sorting resources and creating beautiful rainbow patterns. Sensory play provides endless opportunities for learning, supporting fine motor development, concentration, problem-solving and mathematical concepts such as colour recognition, sorting and pattern making. The children loved scooping, pouring and investigating the different textures while developing their creativity and curiosity through play. A wonderful invitation to explore, discover and learn!

Today the children enjoyed celebrating Cow Day through a wonderful farm-themed sensory and small world activity. The children explored farm animals, natural materials and milk-themed play resources, encouraging imaginative storytelling and discussions about life on the farm.

Activities like this help children develop their communication and language skills, expand their understanding of the world, and build important fine motor skills as they manipulate and move the different resources. The children loved pretending to care for the cows, exploring textures and creating their own farm adventures with friends.

There’s something truly magical about watching our children transform the garden into their very own adventure zone Using their imagination, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, they design and build obstacle courses filled with balance beams, tunnels, stepping stones, and jumping challenges. Not only is this wonderful fun, but it also plays a vital role in their development

supporting gross motor skills, coordination, resilience, and confidence as they navigate each new challenge.

We love seeing the children encourage one another, take safe risks, and celebrate their achievements together. Here, learning is always led through play, and moments like these perfectly capture how we nurture curious minds, active bodies, and happy, confident children 🌿

This winter, the youngest members of the Doves family have truly embraced the colder weather, heading out on lots of walks wrapped up in their puddle suits with great enthusiasm and getting well and truly stuck in the mud (quite literally!). By exploring their outdoor environment in all weathers, the children have developed growing confidence, resilience, and a genuine curiosity about the world around them.
During these adventures, they made new connections with our very own animals, approaching these experiences with excitement and care, and having great fun along the way. All of these big adventures often resulted in some very tired little ones, leading to a peaceful and much-needed nap on the journey back to Doves every single time.

Dear Parents,

We wish to inform you that the Met Office has issued a warning regarding significant rain or snow, which is expected to exacerbate the already icy conditions in our area.

While we are not closing the nursery at this time, we urge all parents to take a comprehensive view of the situation. Please consider the following:

- **Travel Safety**: Assess the road conditions and potential travel restrictions. Your safety and that of your children is our top priority.
- **Staying Home**: If possible, we recommend that families stay home to avoid any unnecessary risks associated with travel during adverse weather conditions.

In the unlikely event that we need to close the nursery, we will inform parents via WhatsApp at the earliest possible point after conducting necessary risk assessments.

We kindly ask for your understanding and patience as we work to ensure the safety of our Doves family during this challenging weather situation.

Thank you for your attention to this matter x

🌟 Embracing Free Play: The Power of Child-Led Learning! 🌟

In a world where structured activities often take the spotlight, let’s celebrate the magic of free play! 🎈 When our little Doves take the lead, they explore their interests, develop creativity, and learn at their own pace. This approach isn’t just spontaneous; it’s intentional and purposeful!

Through free play, we # introduce new concepts and skills in a natural, engaging way. Whether it’s building a fort to explore engineering principles or pretending to be chefs to learn about nutrition, every moment becomes a learning opportunity.

Our practitioners foster curiosity and encourage our little ones to ask questions, experiment, and discover the world around them. After all, the best learning happens when they’re having fun!

🌿🌟 Today was an adventure at preschool as our little explorers took part in their very own bush tucker trials!

It was amazing to see their curiosity and willingness to try new things! The smiles and giggles as they tasted and discovered were priceless. These experiences not only teach them about our environment but also foster a love for nature and curiosity.

A big thank you to our pre school teachers for organising such a fun and educational day! Here’s to more adventures and learning! 🍃❤️
