Gill has been involved in running an Infant Strings scheme with beginner violins, violas and cellos with up to 45 members in the final concert of the year. Based on a scheme familiar to string players worldwide the primary aim is to integrate musical awareness, creativity, and technical development from the very beginning. Simple forms of music reading are used before introducing traditional music notation, and playing from memory, which is essential to develop aural skills. The players are encouraged to listen, respect each other, and work as a group. Gill has been highly sought after as a teacher with previous appointments at many top private schools in the East Midlands. Since the pandemic she has decided to concentrate on her private teaching from home.
