🎨 Colour Week at Dommy Daycare 🌈

Last week we had a wonderful Colour Week, filled with lots of bright, creative and sensory experiences!

The children enjoyed lots of colour mixing and sorting, exploring what happens when colours come together and developing their understanding of similarities and differences. We also enjoyed sensory play, painting with ice and even painting with cars, which was a big hit! 🚗🎨

We got creative in the kitchen too and made our own colourful cakes, giving the children opportunities to explore ingredients, textures and colours. 🧁🌈

We also took a special trip to B&Q to explore all the different paint colours, as Dommy Daycare is having a fresh new look at the end of the month! The children loved looking through the colour choices and even choosing some of their favourite colours. 🎨🏡

We were also very lucky to be gifted a Barbie house, which the children have absolutely loved exploring and playing with. It has already inspired lots of imaginative play, storytelling and role play! 🏠💕

🌊 Sea Creatures Week 🐠🐙

Last week we enjoyed an exciting Sea Creatures Week, after noticing how interested the children have been in learning about life under the sea. We love following the children’s interests and using them to inspire our activities and learning.

The children had lots of fun taking part in messy play, exploring different textures and using their imaginations to create their own underwater worlds. We also enjoyed a trip to the park, making the most of the fresh air and developing our physical skills through climbing, running and exploring.

Back at setting, we got creative by making our own playdough fish and had great fun creating octopus spaghetti, encouraging sensory exploration, fine motor development and lots of conversation about the amazing creatures that live in our oceans. 🐟🪸

This week, Dommy Daycare is closed while we all enjoy a well-deserved holiday before the rest of the summer holidays begin. We hope all of our families are having a wonderful time and making lots of special memories together. ☀️💛

We will be back next week and available to answer any calls or messages, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back on Monday for more fun, learning and adventures together!

☀️ Summer Fun 🍦⚽🌊

What a wonderful way to finish the term before the summer holidays begin! We have had a fantastic week filled with fun, laughter and lots of memorable experiences.

We started the week by taking a special trip to the McCarthy-Dixon Foundation, where we donated our food bank items. The children enjoyed learning about the importance of kindness and helping others in our community.

We also visited The Beehive, where we had a look around for some new toys and enjoyed a delicious slice of cake together – a lovely treat for everyone! 🍰

Back at setting, we embraced our summer theme with lots of exciting sensory play, including making pretend ice creams, ice painting, and exploring our beach-themed sensory activities. These hands-on experiences encouraged creativity, imagination and lots of conversation.

On Wednesday, we got into the football spirit with our England Football Day! The children had great fun making football cakes and decorating England flags, ready to cheer on the team together. ⚽🏴

🦁 Zoo Adventures! 🐒🌿

Over the last three weeks, we have been on two exciting trips to the zoo, and what amazing adventures they were! The children loved seeing all of the different animals, talking about their favourites and learning more about the wonderful world of wildlife.

One of the biggest highlights was watching the monkeys jump onto the car, which had everyone laughing and watching in amazement! 🐒🚗 We also enjoyed a lovely picnic together, making special memories with our friends, before treating ourselves to a visit to the gift shop, where the children enjoyed choosing a little souvenir to take home.

Of course, there were lots of funny moments throughout the day, but one comment had us all in stitches! 😂

Dommy: “Look! What’s that on the floor?”
Child: “Eww… it’s poo on the floor… yuck!” 💩🤣

It certainly gave us all a giggle and is one of those lovely moments we’ll remember for a long time!

These zoo trips have been full of fun, laughter and learning, giving the children wonderful opportunities to explore the natural world, build confidence and create lasting memories with their friends. We can’t wait for our next adventure! 🦒🦓🦁💚

School Role Play 📚✏️🚌

This week we have set up our school role play , the children have been really interested in all the different uniforms and have recognised some of the school logos 📚✏️🚌

🦒 Animal Week Fun! 🐘☀️

Last week we had a fantastic Animal Week, exploring all kinds of animals through creative and hands-on activities. The children loved making lots of animal crafts, including their very own giraffe hats, which they proudly wore during our role play and discussions about different animals and their habitats. 🎨🦒

With the UK’s extreme heat, we made sure everyone stayed cool and safe by enjoying lots of ice play, which was a great sensory experience and helped us learn about melting and temperature. Of course, we also enjoyed some refreshing ice lollies, which were a big hit with everyone! ☀️🧊🍦

We also went to pick up the car from the Vauxhall garage, giving the children another real-life learning experience and an opportunity to talk about vehicles and the people who help us.

To finish off our busy week, we relaxed by watching some animal programmes, learning interesting facts about different animals and sparking lots of conversations and questions.

It has been another wonderful week at Dommy Daycare, full of creativity, exploration and learning through play. We hope everyone has a lovely weekend, and we look forward to another exciting week together! 🌈💛
