Would you recognise the signs of meningitis?

Meningitis can become serious very quickly — especially in babies and young children.

⚠️ Common symptoms include:

• High temperature (fever)

• Severe headache

• Vomiting

• Stiff neck

• Sensitivity to light

• Cold hands and feet, limb pain, pale or mottled skin

⚠️ In babies and young children, also look for:

• Floppy or unresponsive

• High-pitched cry

• Bulging soft spot (fontanelle)

• Poor feeding

❗ A rash can occur, but it doesn’t always appear — don’t wait for it.

🚑 Meningitis is a medical emergency

👉 Call 999 or go to A&E immediately if you’re concerned.

Early treatment can save lives.

Anyone who may know some one who isn’t on social media , please could you share this with them , Thank you , and please know that there are lots more children of all ages waiting to have a chance of a happy loving home 💜

The unnoticed girl, 11, who needs a family to give her hope.

Through no fault of their own, there are children in Middlesbrough who don’t have a caring family and safe home to grow up in.

Children who dread Christmas because they have no family to celebrate it with.

We are desperately trying to find a caring home for a bright and kind 11-year-old girl, currently living in residential care because sadly there just aren’t enough foster carers available for children in this age group.

Quiet and cautious, she tries to go unnoticed in school so that other children don’t realise that she is living in a ‘children’s home’. She just wants to be like other children her age and have a home and adults who care and show up for her.

She enjoys netball, but her fear of being seen stops her from joining the school team. She avoids close friendships because she doesn’t have a home to take friends back to. She doesn’t want other children to find out that she’s ‘different’. She thinks it’s better to go unnoticed.

She believes that she will never have a family to care about her. Finding a supportive and caring home will change her life. It will let her believe there is someone who cares about her.

We are urgently looking for special people who can give Middlesbrough children hope of having a family again. If you have room in your home and your life for a child who needs love, our friendly team want to chat to you.

There is to be an amazing fundraiser at Dalton Village Hall on Saturday 11th October, 10:30am to 1:00pm, with half of the proceeds going to Long Acre Owl Sanctuary 🙏🏻🦉.
Lots of Emma Bridgewater items for sale, various stalls, refreshments and a raffle 🤩.
The organisers have very kindly said they will donate half the proceeds to all the owls and other birds we have in our care. The other half is going to support Alley Cats of Ripon 🐾💕.
Only £2 entry fee, under 16s free.
If you are able to pop down and give them a visit, that would be lovely.
Some fabulous people out there wanting to help us, and all the owls and birds of prey we look after 🌟🦉💕.
PS. Please feel free to share, thank you.

All about the giggles Wednesday 🤣☺️
( videos in the comments)
Lots of building and role play at the hairdressers , looking at our names ( using magnifying glass 🔎) and letters in other words with letters from our name - one child recognised the letter M which is not in their name but knew it was M for Merlin 🥰
It was then time for sausages , mash with butter in please , carrots 🥕 and peas 🫛 but lots of gravy - Thank you - a request 🥰
Then off we set for some fresh air to take Merlin for a walk with treats galore as everyone wanted to give him a treat .
We found some beautiful snow drops and counted in English and Spanish 🇪🇸

The horses 🐴 could hear us before they saw us 😂so they were at the gate waiting .
We enjoyed lots of running to the big tree 🌳 which has no leaves 🍃 yet because we are still in winter ❄️.
We spoke about bird 🦅 flu and the chickens and ducks have to be secure now so to cheer them up we put a swing and a xylophone for them as well as giving them some apples 🍏🍎
We then washed our wellies helping each other to balance while using the hose pipe
Then it was back for some hot chocolate and strawberries 🍓..

It’s all about the love ❤️, friendship and laughter this week 🥰 -
As a child this morning wanted to make another totem pole - that’s what we did with love hearts on 💕
We talked about being kind and understanding to others , and that sharing is also important.
Drawing ✍🏻, colouring 🖍️ and cutting with scissors ✂️ .
Lunch we enjoyed a delicious homemade chicken curry with nan bread and popadoms 😋
We enjoyed a chill out with Toy Story - You got a friend in me 🥰 ( Merlin also loved some chill time with he’s little humans )
We all chose a story 📚and then when we finished we shared and swapped with our friends.
Tomorrow- Tuesday 11th please wear pink 🩷or red ❤️, from PJs to jumpers , socks ,leggings 🎉❤️❤️❤️
