Little steps, big safety skills 🚦

As part of Child Safety Week last week, we took part in a variety of activities with a key focus on road safety. The children enjoyed learning about traffic lights, pedestrian crossings and how to make safe choices when near roads. Through hands-on experiences and meaningful conversations, the children developed confidence in recognising ways to stay safe every day!

This week, we had a very special visit from the fire brigade! 🚒

The visit was made even more special as one of our parents came along with the fire engine. It is so lovely to be part of our local community and to use opportunities like this to support the children’s learning and development.

Experiences like these help to spark conversations about families, different job roles, and the important people who help us every day.

We are very lucky to have such fantastic families who help to enrich our setting with wonderful experiences like this.❤️

Today we celebrated the 100th birthday of the incredible David Attenborough 🌿💚

Across our setting, the children have enjoyed exploring our local community, discovering nature, observing wildlife, and embracing the beauty of the outdoors. These experiences continue to support our outdoor ethos, encouraging natural curiosity, awe, wonder, and a lifelong love of the world around us. 🐞🍃🌎

Every adventure helps our children grow in confidence, creativity, and respect for nature.

🌿 Our New Allotment Adventure 🥕

We are so excited to share some wonderful news about our new allotment!

Yesterday, our maintenance man, lan, spent time working on the allotment with the children. He was incredibly enthusiastic and loved, sharing his knowledge about vegetables, how to plant them and how to care for them as they grow.

The children did a fantastic job. They listened carefully, asked questions, and showed great curiosity and enthusiasm.

The children will enjoy watching the vegetables grow and learning how to nurture them every step of the way.

We can't wait to see how our allotment flourishes, and how much the children continue to learn. 🌽🪴

What a lovely week we’ve had exploring our local community 🌿

The children have enjoyed our forest school sessions, discovering the outdoors and learning through hands-on experiences. They also took part in creating special hampers to share with nearby residents, who always brighten our days with a friendly wave and hello 👋

We’ve also spent time at the local park, giving the children lots of opportunities to play, explore and build confidence in their surroundings.

We feel incredibly lucky to be part of such a warm and welcoming community right on our doorstep ❤️

Exploring Holi 🌈

This week the children enjoyed learning about Holi, the Festival of Colours. Through colourful play, creative activities and stories, they explored how this special celebration is enjoyed by many families around the world.

The children had lots of fun experimenting with bright colours and expressing themselves creatively. Experiencing festivals like Holi helps children develop an understanding of different cultures and traditions. ❤️

🌧️Weather Warriors in Action 🌧️

Yesterday, our preschool children wrapped up warm and headed out on a wet and wonderful adventure in our local community.

As true Weather Warriors who love the great outdoors, we went puddle hunting and explored everything around us. Along the way, we discovered:
🐞 Mini beasts
🌼 The first signs of spring
💦 And the biggest muddy puddles!

The children showed so much enthusiasm, curiosity, and excitement throughout our walk. As we returned to nursery, one child said “Thank you so much, that was so much fun!

What a lovely way to end our adventure 💚

This National Apprenticeship Week, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on the incredible apprentices who are part of our team. They bring enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development and we couldn’t imagine our settings without them!

Today some of our pre-school children had a truly heartwarming experience as we visited our neighbours at Mount Vale Care Home to help celebrate a very special birthday. One of their residents turning 101 years old.

The children proudly took along a card, a cake, flowers, and some beautiful handmade canvas that they had created especially for the occasion.

While we were there, the children sang Happy Birthday, shared the gifts, and enjoyed spending time chatting with the residents.

It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to experience being part of their wider community and to share such a meaningful celebrations. ❤️🎉🍰
