👻 🎃 BROMPTON’S SPOOKTACULAR PUMPKIN CARVING COMPETITION! 🎃👻

Calling all our little witches, wizards and pumpkin artists! 🧙‍♀️🧙‍♂️ We’re getting into the Halloween spirit at Brompton Community Primary School, and we can’t wait to see your spooktacular creations! 🕸️🦇

🏆 HOW TO ENTER:
🎃 Create your very own carved or painted pumpkin.
💷 Entry is just £1 per pumpkin – payable via Arbor or cash to the school office.
📍 Bring your pumpkin to the grassy area at the front of school, in front of Foundation, from Monday 19th October. Please place it behind the relevant gravestone! 🪦
✏️ Make sure your pumpkin is clearly labelled with your name and class.

👻 THE BIG JUDGING DAY!
Our pumpkins will be judged on Wednesday 21st October, with the lucky winners announced in assembly! 🏆

🎁 And the best bit? Our spooky prize bags are all made up and ready to go to our lucky winners! 👀🎃

🌋 Things were erupting at Science Club! 🔬

This week at Science Club, our young scientists investigated what happens when **hot coloured water meets cold water**.

We watched as the hot water appeared to ‘erupt’ like a volcano, rising dramatically through the colder water. But, as always at Science Club, seeing what happened was only the beginning — we wanted to know why!

We discovered that hot water is less dense than cold water, causing it to rise. As the warmer water rises and cooler water sinks, it creates a convection current that we could actually see thanks to the food colouring. 🌡️💧

There were some brilliant predictions, observations and scientific conversations as we explored density, particles, buoyancy and convection.

Art Club has been busy creating some wonderfully bright and colourful pieces in preparation for their exciting pumpkin project! Taking inspiration from the work of Yayoi Kusama, the children have been exploring repeated patterns and her iconic polka dots.

Using a combination of paint and pastels, they have experimented with colour, pattern and texture to create vibrant designs during the planning stage. We can’t wait to see their ideas come to life in their finished pumpkin pieces!

Get creative this Halloween and decorate or carve your very own pumpkin or gourd! 🧡 Each entry is just £1, and our lucky winners will receive a spooky Halloween goody bag! 🍬👻

Our entrance will be transformed into a Pumpkin Graveyard! 🎃⚰️ Bring your creations into school during the week commencing 19th October. Judging will take place on Wednesday 21st October, with pumpkins ready to collect and take home on Thursday 22nd October.

Our Halloween Disco is coming up, with a DJ, party games, dancing, glow sticks and plenty of Halloween treats! 🕷️🦇

🌟Celebrating our amazing Teaching Assistants🌟

Today, we want to shine a spotlight on the incredible Teaching Assistants who make such a difference to life at Brompton Community Primary School. 💙💛

Our TAs are so much more than an extra pair of hands in the classroom. They are encouragers, listeners, problem-solvers, role models, cheerleaders and champions for our children. 🐝

From supporting learning in the classroom, to helping children overcome barriers, building confidence, providing nurture and encouragement, running interventions, supporting children with additional needs and being there with a reassuring smile when a child needs it most — their impact is felt every single day.

They know our children. They notice the little things. They celebrate the small steps. They help children believe that they can.

And often, they do all of this quietly, behind the scenes, without looking for recognition. ❤️

So today, we simply want to say:

Thank you.
Thank you for your patience.
Thank you for your care.
Thank you for your commitment.
Thank you for believing in our children.
And thank you for everything you do to make Happiness Through Learning a reality at Brompton. 🐝💙💛

🐝💙💛 YOU’RE INVITED TO OUR OPEN EVENING! 💛💙🐝

We’re excited to welcome current and prospective families to Brompton Community Primary School on Thursday 15th October from 4pm onwards.

✨ For our current families: come and see for yourself the new look and transformation of our school! Take a tour, explore our classrooms and see some of the changes we’ve been working so hard on.

🏫 For prospective families: if you have a child starting Reception in September 2027, this is a wonderful opportunity to look around our school, meet the team, find out more about life at Brompton and ask any questions you may have.

🍽️ Families will also have the opportunity to try our school meals in the Hall.

📚 Places are currently available in Years 1–5, so please do spread the word to any families who may be looking for a school place.

If you have a Reception starter for 2027 but cannot make the Open Evening, please don’t worry! Simply contact our school office at [email protected] and we’ll be very happy to arrange an alternative meeting.

🎉 NEW PLAY BAGS HAVE ARRIVED! 🎉

We’re so excited to introduce our brand-new class play bags! 🐝💙💛

Each class now has their very own play bag, packed full of exciting goodies for children to enjoy and look after together, including:

🪄 Twirling wands
🫧 Bubbles
🖍️ Jumbo chalks
🎾 Tennis balls
✨ Light-up sensory balls
🪢 Skipping ropes
☄️ Soft meteor ball tails

And the children absolutely loved exploring them today! 💛

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed towards our Penny Wars last year. A chunk of the money raised has helped us to purchase these fantastic new resources, and it’s wonderful to see the money raised by our school community being turned into something the children can enjoy every day.

But that’s not all! 👀

We’ve also added some bigger games to our Huff & Puff trolley, including 🎯 Velcro target throws and ⭕ ring toss hoops — giving the children even more opportunities to play, be active and have fun together at lunchtime.

And we’re not finished yet! 🙌 We’ll be looking at how we can invest the rest of the money raised into even more exciting playground resources over the coming months.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make this possible. ❤️
