𝙄𝙨 𝙢𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙 𝙬𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙙?

key points regarding illnesses:

Fever/Temperature: Children must be fever-free for 48 hours before returning.

Coughs & Colds: Mild colds with clear mucus are fine. Thick green/yellow mucus, persistent coughs, or symptoms that disturb sleep mean your child should stay home.

Vomiting & Diarrhoea: Children must remain home for 48 hours after the last episode.

Any sickness within the setting will be treated as an illness. Parents will be contacted immediately to collect their child.

Rashes: Do not send your child in with any new rashes. Any new rash must be checked by a medical professional before returning.

Specific Illnesses:

Whooping Cough – 5 days absence after starting antibiotics

Slapped Cheek – 5 days from rash onset

Measles – 5 days from rash onset

Tonsillitis – 48 hours after starting antibiotics

Threadworms – 5 days from onset of immediate medication. This allows the medication to work and to kill off the worms. A second treatment is needed. The whole family will need to be treated.

Highly contagious illnesses (chickenpox, HFMD) – Must remain home until every spot is scabbed over.

Ear Infections: Must be assessed by a doctor and follow guidance on return.

Conjunctivitis: Does not need to be seen by a doctor but must be treated *unless under 2 years old*. Children may return after 24hrs of treatment once eyes are clear and free from green or yellow discharge.

Head Lice: Children may return after full treatment.

Medication & Vaccinations: Children on new medication or after vaccination should remain home for 48 hours to monitor for reactions.

Sleep & Wellbeing: Poor sleep, tiredness, or not feeling well may affect behaviour; children will be asked to stay home.

Key Reminders:

Parents must report absences and reasons.

Any injuries must be reported and documented by parents.

Reported illnesses are taken seriously with deep cleans, and in worst-case scenarios, temporary closure may happen.

Little Penguins Childcare reserves the right to refuse attendance for safety and wellbeing reasons.

Parents are encouraged to use this as a guide and always prioritise their child’s health and the safety of all children when deciding whether to attend the setting.

We have had a amaizng week, we had a visit to the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens with our friends. We had such a lovely day, the children throughly enjoyed seeing all the animals and naming them all. We watched the Rhino's playing together which the children all enjoyed.

We had world book day, we all brought an activity which gave the children the opportunity to learn and play with resources with different stories. They all throughly enjoyed making Gruffalo crumble with their friends from Freckled Frogs Childcare Little Buddies and Billies Childminding. Lots of mess was made and so many smiley faces and lots of fun was had. Ending the week blowing with a good run around the polo pitches.

Some of our fabulous February activities. We celebrated valentines day, pancake day, Chinese new year, St Davids day and childrens mental health day.

We had so much fun with our friends from Freckled Frogs Childcare Billies Childminding Little Buddies. We enjoyed making our pancakes outside and decorating them with lots of delicious treats.

🧙‍♀️🎃 zoom zoom zoom come climb upon my broom 🧹We have had a lovely few weeks learning all about Halloween. We visited The Vyne National Trust House for a spooky ghost hunt 👻 We did painting ghosts, a Halloween party with lots of messy play too. Thank you to all our friends for a lovely few weeks its been spooky and fun Little Buddies Billies Childminding Freckled Frogs Childcare. Now a well earned break for half term 🥰 have a fantastic half term 😀

We have been such busy bees the last few weeks, they say time flys when your having fun and its certainly flown by. We have had some amazing adventures with all our friends from Little Buddies Freckled Frogs Childcare Billies Childminding. We have certainly learnt lots and had so much fun learning along the way.

The reality of the government's "FREE childcare"....although "us" as childcare providers completely support it, it's putting many of us under massive financial strain just to provide those "FREE" hours. This will explain it better than my words can...
