A child can sit quietly, follow instructions and finish a task, and still not be genuinely engaged. The Leuven Scales of Well-being and Involvement give Early Years practitioners a way to look past behaviour and outcomes, and ask something far more meaningful... what is this child actually experiencing?

🌱 Well-being: how comfortable, secure and emotionally settled a child feels
🌱 Involvement: how deeply concentrated, absorbed and motivated a child is
Looking at both together gives a much richer picture of provision quality, and turns low involvement from a disappointing score into useful information you can act on.
