As historians, Hepworth class have been History Detectives this week! πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™€οΈπŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ They explored real coal, using their observational skills to describe what it looked and felt like, and discovered why mining was so important in the past. Then they compared Normanton in the past and present, investigating historical sources and spotting similarities and differences between them. The children asked thoughtful questions, shared great ideas and showed excellent historical thinking throughout their learning!

Waterton class have been brilliant historians. The children loved stepping back in time to learn about what coal mining was like in the past. We looked at some real objects that had been brought in by a former miner and talked about what they were used for. We also used role play to imagine what it would have been like to go down into a coal mine.

⚽ Hepworth Class have been enjoying their PE lessons focusing on football over the last few weeks. They have practised dribbling, shooting and controlling the ball using the inside of their foot and the sole of their foot to stop it. They then applied these skills by shooting the ball through targets before finishing the lesson with a small-sided football game! ⚽️

Tomlinson Class have been showing off their amazing geography skills this week! The children have been busy using maps to locate and identify different countries across Europe, demonstrating fantastic map-reading skills and determination. We even had a geography superstar who went the extra mile by colouring each country in the colours of its flag! What a brilliant effort from everyone. Well done, Tomlinson Class! 🌍 πŸ“ πŸ’š

We have been absolutely blown away by the amazing number of Eco Councillor application forms we have received! Every single child has put so much thought, effort and enthusiasm into their application, making it an incredibly difficult decision. We are so proud of everyone who applied and showed such a passion for making our school and the planet a better place. Our new Eco Councillors will be announced in assembly tomorrow! A huge well done to everyone who applied. You should all be very proud of yourselves! 🌳 β™» πŸ’š

Tiny Hargreaves have had fun exploring pumpkins, this week. We were so lucky to find a Pumpkin Patch in our garden! We developed lots of physical skills by picking up, carrying and pushing. We used the scales to weigh the pumpkins and used maths language to talk about the size of them and count them too. We had a great time hammering tees into the pumpkins to develop our fine motor skills.
