Today we had the privilege of spending time with Polish children from Cross Cultural Polish Academy in Banbridge on a living history lesson — discovering the graves of Polish Second World War heroes in Glenavy and exploring Irish aviation history at the Ulster Aviation Society. It was truly uplifting to see young children from the Polish community being taught about their heritage and history in such a meaningful way. A heartfelt well done to the school from Banbridge for such a wonderful initiative!

Call for Participants

[EN]We are calling for participants to take part in our newly established collaboration with the Ulster Museum, which aims to develop an exhibition focusing on the history of the Polish community in Northern Ireland under the working title "Roots & Wings - A Celebration of Heritage and Community." The main purpose of this project is to showcase stories of Polish people living in Northern Ireland. The Ulster Museum has kindly designated an exhibition space for this project.

We are looking to recruit up to 10 creative individuals from the Polish community who will play a key role in deciding on the exhibition's content and shaping its final form. Since this will be a collaboration between the participants and the Museum, a communicative level of English is required; however, an interpreter will be present if needed.

Participants will attend up to six sessions, each lasting three hours, between May 15th (Saturday) and September 26th. We aim to launch the exhibition on November 14th, 2026. If you know someone who might be interested in this opportunity, or if you believe it is suitable for you, please contact us at [email protected] by May 10th, 2026. Priority will be given to individuals who have not participated in a similar project before.

We had an amazing time supporting Gropa Północ during their 2026 Motorcycle Season Opening at the Ulster Aviation Society today. It was a fantastic day with great attendance, not just from Northern Ireland but also from as far away as Athlone and Cork. The Ulster Aviation Society was the perfect venue for the event, showcasing an impressive collection of aircraft in the background, which added to the excitement of the motorbikes.

During the event, Group Północ managed to raise £1,288 and €200 donated to the Society, along with two bottles of well-tested Polish "cough medicine". We cannot emphasise enough how outstanding the support from the Ulster Aviation Society has been every time we wish to organise an event or visit. A big thank you to Ray and his team for their incredible support.

We would also like to thank you Consul General of the Republic of Poland Grzegorz Sala and Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Belfast for supporting the indicative.

April is just around the corner, so it’s time to start promoting the event we are helping to organise: the Polish Picnic at the Ulster Aviation Society in Lisburn, which will mark the opening of the 2026 motorbike season with Grupa Północ. The Family Picnic will be held at the Lisburn-based Ulster Aviation Society, a local gem and the best aviation museum on the island of Ireland. It holds an extensive collection of civilian and military aircraft, as well as the Polish Room and an exhibition created to tell the story of the impact made by the Polish Air Force in the Second World War. The society also features aircraft simulators, allowing visitors a glimpse of flying some of the iconic aircraft. This event is open to anyone and, importantly, it is free of charge. However, all income generated from the BBQ will be donated to support the Ulster Aviation Society. We are very welcome to join Grupa Północ and For Your Freedom & Ours on the day.

This event is supported by Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Belfast
