The Saddler who makes more than saddles.....

After a lifetime of working with horses (and being accompanied by dogs) in 2016 Lucy travelled to Enfield, London, to study for two years at Capel Manor College, one of the last places to study saddlery full time. A huge thank you to the crew at for a wonderful spotlight showing heritage craft at To be able to show the necessity for our skills is always a humbling honour both in person at the show and to a tv audience. Another huge thanks to Clive of for giving me the opportunity and to Stephen for being a fabulous client who felt brave enough to big me up on national telly!

๐ŸŒŸ Beautiful Betty ๐ŸŒŸ
Is there a better compliment to a bridle than two red ribbons on a newly commissioned bridle. Donโ€™t let good horses be put further down the line by a bad bridle choice. You wouldnโ€™t put a marathon runner in the wrong shoes- donโ€™t do the same to your beloved beasties!
Thank you to Bettyโ€™s lovely owner Nichola for sharing such lovely pictures ๐Ÿฅฐ

Pass on what you have learned. Strength. Mastery. But weakness, failure also. Failure most of all. The greatest teacher failure is. We are what they grow beyond. That is the true burden of all masters. ~ Yoda

๐ŸŒŸ May Day is Coming! ๐ŸŒŸ
A gentle reminder to all those competing this season - check your gear now! Things will need ordered, altered and time taken to repair and replace- donโ€™t let it till the last minute! To be on the list means things are in motion- some jobs have been waiting patiently for custom brasses to arrive or particular hides to come in- some taking up to 5 weeks to arrive! Itโ€™s not just me who wants you to get in early! โฐ

Was very honoured too be one of the many demonstrations at Ultimate Evening of Craft. We had great fun doing our own little excavation on an old side saddle in the ! Who knew when you came over to a saddler youโ€™d get chatting about socio-economics and more! Man I love being a saddlery nerd ๐Ÿ˜Ž
