Congratulations to former pupil Denise Kiley (Class of 2003), who started her two year long term as Chair of the Bar Council of Northern Ireland from 1 September 2026.

A former pupil of Belfast High School has spoken of her “great privilege” at becoming the new Chair of the Bar Council of Northern Ireland.

We are Recruiting - Teacher of Geography
The Board of Governors is seeking to appoint a part-time temporary Teacher of Geography commencing November 2026 to cover a maternity leave. The post is 80% (Monday to Thursday each week). The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, well-qualified teacher, committed to enabling pupils to realise their highest academic potential. They will be an excellent classroom practitioner who will convey an enthusiasm for the subject to the pupils they teach.

12.00 noon, Tuesday 8 September 2026.
The selection process is scheduled to take place on Friday 11 September 2026.

Year 8 2026-27
Our new Year 8 pupils joined us on Friday 21 August for the first of their induction sessions, taking part in ice-breaker games with their Form Teachers and Form Prefects. On Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 August they travelled to Ganaway Activity Centre for team building activities. Induction sessions with their Form Teacher included a tour of the school, finger/face scanning for the canteen, school photographs, the Translink Road Safety Bus and spending time with their new classmates. Timetabled classes began on the afternoon of Wednesday 26 August and the Year 8s finished their week by taking part in our whole-school Abaana fundraiser on the afternoon of Friday 28 August.

GCSE and AS Results
As we welcome our new Year 13 and 14 pupils back to school, we are delighted to congratulate our GCSE and AS top exam achievers and wish all of our pupils every success as they begin their AS and A2 courses:

GCSE Level
Our top performing 59 pupils each achieved at least 8 x A/A* grades (263 A* and 296 A grades in total). Special congratulations go to Lucy B, Bethan F, Lucy McC, and Emma P (11 A* grades) and to Ethan K and Georgina L (10 A* grades).

AS Level
Our top performing 35 pupils each achieved at least 3 x A grades (115 x A grades in total).
