Today I said goodbye to the wonderful boys and girls of P7 at St. MacNissi's Primary School as they prepare to move on to their next chapter and new schools.
I have had the absolute pleasure of working with these children every single week since they were in P3, teaching them mindfulness. As my longest-standing school class, they have been a huge part of my journey too. Over the years, I have watched them flourish, grow in confidence and develop into the amazing young people they are today.
Today we reflected on some of the things we have learnt and enjoyed together over the years, and here are just a handful of the takeaways from our classes β¦
How to control my anger
To recognise the qualities in ourselves
How to recognise my emotions
The importance of making good choices
How to manage imposter thoughts
I can do hard things
Downward-facing dog
To fill your own bucket
Teamwork
Sportsmanship
How to have the best dinner party (guests!)
Share your problems with a trusted adult
Breathing through tricky situations
Bravery
Honesty
To use my pause
5-finger breathing
Tapping
Independence and confidence
Creativity
Patience
To never give up
Control the controllables
What a privilege it has been to watch this incredible group grow over the last five years. They have taught me just as much as I have taught them, and they have brought so much joy, laughter and meaning to my weeks.
I have no doubt they will continue to do amazing things wherever life takes them.
Thank you for the many, many laughs and memories. π
