Weekly Round-up!
We had another amazing week. The Summer Fayre was brilliant. Thank you all for coming – it was lovely seeing you all. A big well done to our Year 6 children who did such an amazing job running the stalls. Even though everything (and everyone!) was melting in the heat, much fun was had!
This morning we had our final assemblies of the year – Star of the Year. This afternoon we had a sneak peek on Matilda dress rehearsal – you are in for a treat next week!
And we still managed all the exciting learning:
Nursery continued with their castle topic with a short interruption of …. Graduation Ceremony;
Reception had a Teddy Bear picnic and learnt about frogs;
Year 1 programmed animations in computing;
Year 2 analysed the results of their plant experiment;
Year 3 wrote instructions and followed them to create monsters;
Year 4 worked with UTC students in science;
Year 5 made their parachutes to check air resistance;
Year 6 learnt more life skills: they dealt with economics and event coordination during Summer Fayre and cooked a British themed meal in DT.
Have a lovely weekend!
Many thanks,
Vane Road Team

Message from Mrs Howe:
Good afternoon,

I hope everyone is well.

I am delighted to share our successful recent Ofsted report with you all. I am incredibly proud of the hard work that our staff put in every day to support our children and families and feel honoured to lead such an amazing team.
A huge thank you to parents/carers for the support you continually give to us as a school.

I have attached our celebration video which shows some of the highlights from the report.

The full report will follow.

As always thank you for your continued support. ✨

Weekly Round-up!
What a lovely week! It was full of sports: sports day for all classes, netball team competing. It was so lovely seeing all of you. It was also lovely to watch our older children supporting our younger children during sports day! Well done to all!
We also had our transition day - year 6 went to their 'big school' and all the classes met their new teachers. It was a fantastic day!
The learning didn't stop though. From experimenting with art techniques in Nursery and Reception, through maths and English skills, sound editing in year 4, to life skills in year 6 with menu planning and budgeting - we were all very busy!
We also had a visit from the police who delivered a workshop about antisocial behaviour. Our year 5s showed real maturity.

Next week - it's our Summer Fayre (details to follow shortly). We can't wait to see you!
Have a lovely weekend!
Many thanks,
Vane Road Team

Year 3 turned filmmakers for stop-motion animation in computing;
Year 4 measured temperature in science

Weekly Round-up!
We had another lovely week. Year 6 children enjoyed the activities during their residential trip (see Mrs Wells' posts, please) and the ones that stayed at school had fun-filled three days. Our athletes competed without the year 6 representatives and achieved an amazing 4th place against much older competitors. Well done!

Everybody thrived with their learning:
Nursery continued with their castles topic and painted their models;
Reception enjoyed the outdoor learning in our forest school;
Year 1 used colourful mats to learn how to program a robot;
Year 2 wrote an information text about whales;
Year 3 read the books by their star author - Michael Morpurgo;
Year 4 researched facts about Judaism in RE;
Year 5 learnt about the reproduction of mammals in science;
Year 6 - when they came back - started practising songs for the leavers performance.

Have a lovely weekend!
Many thanks,
Vane Road Team

Weekly Round-up!
What a week! Our children as always rose to the occasion and shone. They are all super stars! Our football team finished their preparation games and are waiting for the competition next half term – go girls! Last week, our Year 6 children cope brilliantly with the stressful SATs. We are all very proud of them. But this week it was back to normal with all the exciting learning.
Nursery mastered gymnastics. In the big hall, using the real gymnastics mats.
Reception wrote their own versions of Hansel and Gretel.
Year 1 visited Hamsterley Forest. What a trip that was!
Year 2 looked at healthy eating habits and made their own wraps.
Year 3 conducted investigation in science to check how different surfaces affect movement.
Year 4 loved creating their own video games using Scratch programming language.
Year 5 build bridges. They used all the tools so well!
Year 6 painted in the style of Alma Thomas.
Have a lovely break – the weather is forecasted to be wonderful!
Many thanks,
Vane Road Team
