The training is delivered live via Zoom, and is designed specifically for parents/carers of children who are approaching or above compulsory school age (post-16).

The Parent Carer Forum Devon and Family Voice Torbay in collaboration with Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD), are pleased to be funding and delivering a new programme of workshops designed to support families and professionals to better understand neurodiversity.

Coming this Thursday! A friendly new support group...

A supportive peer group for adults who discovered their ADHD later in life or who identify as ADHD without a formal diagnosis.

The group offers a welcoming space to share experiences, explore identity, discuss challenges and connect with others navigating similar journeys.

🍂 There’s lots coming up from LEAP this Autumn!

Our new programme includes a wide range of FREE online workshops for parent carers, with sessions delivered by BIBIC, Esteem Team and Devon Educational Psychology Service.

Topics include autism, ADHD, sensory processing, anxiety, support for parent carers and siblings, and developing children’s language and play.

"Great activities that my children will remember forever!"

There's still time to book spaces on Friday afternoon's FREE Family Open Day at the Field Studies Centre at Slapton.

These events are for families with children who may feel anxious about new environments, families with children and young people with SEND need, and foster/kinship families.
Families will be welcomed at the Field Centre in Slapton before splitting into small groups and rotating through activities.

🌿 Pond Dipping at Slapton Ley: explore the hidden underwater world by catching freshwater invertebrates, learning to identify them and discover fascinating adaptations.
🏖️ Team Games at Slapton Sands: tower building, berm racing and scavenger hunts
🎨 Natural Art at the Field Centre: arts and crafts using natural materials, plus sensory and hands-on experiences.

All activities are organised by the Field Studies Council, and there will be experienced staff on hand and a minibus to get between activity locations.

For many families, a child's autism assessment is about finding answers, understanding and support.

But for some parents, it becomes something more.

As they learn about autism, recognise traits and reflect on their own experiences, they begin to see themselves in a new light. What started as a journey to understand their child becomes a journey of self-discovery too.

Last year, one in four of the young people the hubs worked with had an Education Health and Care Plan.

The Hubs offer free, impartial advice on careers, training, apprenticeships, further learning and employment opportunities, including the Connect to Work scheme for young people with disabilities who want to join the workforce They can help you explore what's next, build confidence, and take the next step on your journey.

As of today there are are ten Hubs across Devon as the Totnes Hub opens its doors!
