After a week of staying home and playing inside or in the garden due to the heat ohhhh was it bliss for us all to be outside and running free and in such a lovely place with lovely friends Out and About Childminding

During the April the children enjoyed a range of seasonal outdoor experiences, embracing both the sunshine and the typical April showers. We confidently engaged in jumping in muddy puddles, demonstrating developing balance, coordination and a willingness to take safe risks. We all showed great excitement and laughter, reflecting a strong sense of wellbeing and enjoyment. Physical Development, Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development,

We explored sand play, using buckets and tools to fill, empty and build towers and sandcastles. They remained engaged for sustained periods, experimenting with different ways to construct and transport materials. Similarly, while making mud pies, the children collected natural resources and combined them creatively, showing imagination and curiosity as they explored textures and materials. We collected various objects from the environments, carefully gathering and transporting our ‘treasures’. This supported early mathematical skills such as sorting and comparing, as well as encouraging exploratory play.
The children demonstrated growing awareness of the natural world, particularly when talking about babies and the new life at the farm. They used familiar vocabulary and engaged in meaningful conversations, showing curiosity about animals and life Physical Development, Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, and Understanding the World.

March,
My children explored seasonal changes in the natural environment, observing the growth of early spring flowers and examining the textures of tree bark and fungi. Our experiences supported our curiosity and encouraged the use of descriptive language.
Understanding the World; Communication and Language
We had opportunities to develop our sensory awareness through hands-on exploration of natural materials, noticing similarities, differences and patterns in the environment.
Understanding the World; Mathematics
We met up with other childminders and peers, providing valuable opportunities for the children to build relationships, develop confidence and learn to play cooperatively within a group.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
We took part in a range of outings, including visits to World of Country Life, Pennywell Farm Haldon and Paignton Zoo. Our experiences help to broaden our understanding of the wider world, particularly animals and their habitats, whilst also encouraging physical activity through walking and exploration.
Understanding the World; Physical Development
Despite periods of unsettled weather, we continue to access outdoor learning and play, demonstrating resilience and adaptability while developing our gross motor skills.
