Our highly-qualified early years educators help each child to develop their individual strengths and curiosity, and therefore each child is encouraged along the way. Our team take the time to develop trusting relationships with both the child and his or her family. You will receive updates through our easy to use app as well as the opportunity to catch up at the end of your child's day. HDC is a family of four nurseries located in the South West of Devon. We continuously upgrade our inspiring nursery environments because we believe a child's surroundings can help to develop their curious minds. We recognise that working and raising a child can be a difficult balancing act and therefore we offer childcare from 7:30am - 6:00pm and offer half-day additions to our scheduling to help you manage your busy schedule.

In the garden, the children participated in our "get moving" dice activity. The adult provided two dice, one with different physical actions and with numbers 1-6. The children rolled the dice and challenged the children to do the action either the number of times on the dice or for a count of the number on the dice. The children enjoyed their number recognition when rolling the numbered dice and building on their physical development with the actions.

In the Orchard room the adults set up a land and sea sensory activity, for the children to explored this activity. The adult modelled language such as "foam", "bubbles" and "sharks" which many of the children could say independently. The older children had back to back conversations with the adult and there peers about sea animals and the sea in general.

In the garden the Forest children have participated in a leaf printing activity. The adult provided paint and challenged the children to collect leaves from around the garden. The children painted the leaf and then used this to print the shape of the leaf onto the paper in the shape of a sunflower.

In the Orchard room the adult provided a rainbow made out of cotton balls, different coloured water paints and pippets for the children to explore the different colours. The adult encouraged the children to squeeze the paint out of the pallet and onto the cotton which most of the children could do. This activity helps the babies develop there fine motor skills! Many of the children were able to say "squeeze", "rainbow" and "mix" throughout this activity.

The children in the Orchard used natural resources when playing in the sandpit. The adult narrated their play explaining the different textures they could feel. They used this as an opportunity to talk about positional language such as "on top" and "under". The children chose to use leaves when scooping and building sandcastles and used their fine and gross motor skills to decorate their creations. Some children used shells to scoop the sand communicating to the adult "scoop".

The children in the Forest have been exploring a car themed tuff tray. The adult added different elements to the tray and encouraged the children to communicate about what they would find in different areas. The children said 'the elephants drink water' 'the pigs roll in mud' 'flowers are in the sunshine' The children enjoyed exploring the tray together and showed great understanding of their play throughout the activity.
