We had great fun celebrating World Book Day on Thursday. We were joined by Elmer the Elephant, Goldilocks, Pirate P, Rex the Dinosaur,Daisy Duck, Mini Mouse, Spidey, Jessie, Rapunzel, and one of the 101 Dalmatian’s to name a few.

What a wonderful time we had celebrating our love of books! 📚😃

Happy Valentines Day ♥️
All of our age groups have been very busy celebrating the love today! We’ve been talking about what we love and what it means to be kind to each other 🥰
We have all been busy baking with our nursery chef and decorating our heart biscuits to take home with pink icing and chocolate sprinkles, making wonderful drawings and sticking masterpieces and getting creative with the red play dough and the valentines themed sensory tray. A day of loveliness. 🌹💕🥰

Massive thank you to Police Community Support Officers Sharon and Debbie who came to visit us yesterday in support of our ‘People Who Help Us’ theme.

They spoke with the children about the how the police help us. The children were very confident in telling them how they know they catch crooks and bad guys!

The children also learnt that the police can help if they are lost and how the police help to look for people. They also learnt all about their walkie talkies and how they use these to communicate. The children got to try on a range of hats, vests and jackets and learnt what each one was for which they thoroughly enjoyed.

To top it off we all went outside to see the police car at the end which was described as the best day ever! The children particularly enjoyed the flashing lights. Lots of happy smiley faces.

If you see your local police team in the town please do go up and say hello with your little ones. It is important for children to know that they are here to help them. 🚓🚓🚓

Our babies have loved being builders this week!
They were highly engaged in the sensory experience of pushing their construction vehicles through edible cocoa mud and weetabix gravel. They used the foam bricks to create their very own towers which of course got knocked down and rebuilt and knocked down again MANY times. We took this play inspiration with us out into the garden where the babies enjoyed observing shapes and spaces through the binoculars and explored the construction vehicles in the sand. It was most lovely to see the awe in their faces as they observed their own reflections in the mirror while wearing their hard hats.

Our children are currently really interested in transport. This has been the inspiration for our current theme ‘People Who Help Us’. This week groups of children have enjoyed trips to the park and train station.

The children discussed what they could see on their walk such as dogs, squirrels, birds, buses and the moon 🦮🐿️🌙. Once at the train station the children listened out for the sounds they could hear. The children heard the tanoy announcing the next train to arrive, a suitcase being wheeled along and the sounds of the trains brakes squeaking 🦻🏻. The children excitedly waved hello and goodbye to the trains and counted down the minutes until the next train was to arrive 🚂. On our way back through the station we headed into the ticket office and collected some information leaflets to take back to nursery. As we crossed the crossing we said thank you to the cars that kindly let us cross and were lucky enough to spot and wave to a passing ambulance the paramedics also waved back to us 🚑👋🏻😃. Walking through the park back to nursery we looked for signs of winter and noticed the pond had frozen over! ❄️ We then enjoyed making our own ambulance paintings back at the nursery 🎨🧑‍🎨🖼️
