🌻What better time to pop back up than to tell you we have been raising money for Charity!!! 🌻

Today 36 Children took part in our Rowcroft Rudolph toddle around the Racecourse to raise money.

We hunted for the Christmas objects that had been hidden along the way and each came along with a challenge to complete so after lots of Christmas singing, twirling & stamping we finally found the gold coin treasure and made our way back to nursery🎅

We are super proud of all the children for joining in & how amazing they were the whole time ❤

Congratulations to all of the team over at Courtenay Park!! :)

We are so happy to let everyone know that we had our Ofsted inspection just before Christmas and now the report has finally been published we can let everyone officially know that we received a grading of GOOD in all areas.

Although the report reads well there were so many other wonderful things that were championed but didn't make the word count. Luckily we took minutes of the feedback meeting and so if anything for the team I would like to take the opportunity to share some of the things that were also championed as they work so hard and deserve the recognition!

The Ofsted inspector commented that:

🌻We have a well designed curriculum with it's sequencing being a real strength
🌻Staff read books, sing rhymes and model words regularly
🌻There is a love for books in all rooms
🌻Staff read familiar stories which children which they act out
🌻Staff expand vocabulary
🌻Next steps are shared well with parents
🌻Children with SEND make progress and the nursery uses systems to aid communication and transition such as a now and next board and photos
🌻Staff model listening ears
🌻Children know the routines
🌻ALL children like books. Children go into the dark den to look at a book together showing that they feel secure
🌻Children have good finger dexterity which they show while using tongs and playing with playdough
🌻Lots of naming shapes such as triangle
🌻Children enjoy watching and/or joining in with the helicopter stories in the preschool room
🌻Children enjoy splashing in puddles
🌻Babies take risks climbing. Sometimes they wobble but show resilience getting straight back up.
🌻Children develop critical thinking skills through discussions around reflection and light and talk about discussions they have had previously about the moon. There is a good extension of this by getting out fairy lights in the afternoon.
🌻Good independent skills
🌻Lots of praise
🌻Excellent use of dignity while nappy changing talking children through every step of the way
🌻Children are supported to identify and name their feelings
🌻Children have good manners
🌻Children are polite and kind
🌻Toddlers say excuse me to each other
🌻Children respect the nursery rules and boundaries and use 'please' and 'thank you'
🌻Staff teach the children to say 'Stop' 'I don't like it' when they do not like something.
🌻Pre-school children wait for their turn. Good use of a traffic light timer to support with this.
🌻Babies and children are kept safe and warm
🌻Safeguarding is good and effective in all rooms
🌻There is a positive safeguarding culture of which staff know what to do and are confident to challenge.
🌻Managing children's safety is good

S U M M E R 🌞

We have been a little quieter over the last few weeks but it hasn't stopped us continuing to learn and have fun
We have had lots of outdoor and indoor free flow play giving the children lots of opportunities to decide what they would like to do and go between both indoor and outdoors at ease.

We have been making our very own flapjacks and cookies, creating beautiful pictures with all sorts of textures and identifying different letters we stuck on our creation.
We have had a bug hunt in the tuff tray, using lots of different words to describe what we have found and can see, using magnifying glasses, our fingers and tweezers. We also enjoyed manipulating and creating new habitats with the different materials in the tuff tray by mixing, scooping and pouring :)

And there is always time for a snuggly story on the beanbag :)

After a very busy last term we are now gradually getting through our photos to show you all the lovely things we have been up to.

E A S T E R 2 0 2 3 🐥

In April we visited Gooseford Farm with our Sunflower families for Easter, we enjoyed cake decorating, Easter Colouring, designing our own bonnets and an had an exciting egg hunt around the farm, it was SO much fun!!

We watched the cows coming in for milking and watched as they were attached to the machines to be milked, The children had so many questions about what was happening and learnt lots about the process.
We were lucky enough to try their delicious milkshakes made at the farm....they had SO many flavours!! YUM 🐄🥛

We wanted to thank Gooseford Dairy for having us and allowing us to educate and show our children all of the exciting things that happen on a farm

G r a d u a t i o n 👩‍🎓🧑‍🎓👨‍🎓

What a lovely day we had on Saturday, full of bouncing, ice cream, face paint, biscuit decorating, cakes and craft.
Unfortunately we were having so much fun we forgot to take lots of photos :( oops

We are saying goodbye to 20 Preschool children this year and couldn't be prouder of them for all they have achieved, we will miss them AND their families SO much!

C O R O N A T I O N 💂‍♀️🫅❤️🤍💙

The whole nursery have absolutely loved this topic.
There have been lots of fun and exciting activities accessible to all children that have expanded into so many further questions, interests and learning over the last couple of weeks.

We loved exploring St Georges Day and the story behind the day, having our own banquet and listening to medieval music. The children loved creating their own castles from junk modelling and using larger objects and soft play to create spaces and enclosures.
We have spoke about the things we love about England and made our very own heart shaped biscuits with the England flag on and dressed up as knights and kings whilst pretending to defend our castles.

We have had lots of crafty activities making our own crowns, making them extra shiny and sparkly, also using the colours of great Britain to create flags and crowns with paint.
We had our very own coronation lunch, spoke about the King, palace and looked at photos of him and where he lives, we also had a high tea and party with music and of course red, white and blue balloons :)
