The next meeting of the SCoPEd Campaign group is Friday 7th November, at 5pm, via Zoom. This PCU led group campaigns against the unjust and unfair way that SCoPEd is being implemented. The implications for therapists are becoming increasingly clear and worrying.

At the meeting we will be considering what PCPB (Partnership of Counselling and Psychotherapy Bodies) is up to with its Commission for the Future of Counselling and Psychotherapy, which is to consider the case for statutory regulation. Sadly, but unsurprisingly, there appears to be little, if any, room at the table for the actual members of the six membership body partners.

We welcome the BMA vote to resist Palantir’s involvement in NHS England.
The British Medical Association (BMA) have taken a clear stand against the use of Palantir technology in NHS England. At their Annual Representative Meeting (ARM 2025), BMA members passed a motion calling for:

→ National lobbying to end Palantir’s contracts with the NHS
→ Support for health workers who want to refuse using Palantir products
→ Transparency over the platform’s efficacy and uptake
→ Advocacy for publicly-owned alternatives

Palantir is a US-based tech company known for its surveillance work with military and intelligence agencies. It has publicly aligned itself with the Israeli Occupation Forces, whose actions in Gaza, including attacks on hospitals, have led to a humanitarian catastrophe and a finding of plausible genocide by the International Court of Justice.

NHS England have awarded Palantir a £330 million contract. Concerns about Palantir include the company’s ethics, lack of transparency, close ties to state violence, and the risk to patient privacy and public trust.

We stand in solidarity with the BMA and support their resistance to the involvement of Palantir in NHS England.

In light of the recent Supreme Court ruling, we want to affirm that while new guidance is being issued by the court and Counselling and Psychotherapy membership bodies, it remains our opinion that:
