Music Success 🎶

Year 10 pupil Joseph McParland was surprised this morning when he arrived for his first drum kit lesson of term 1 when his tutor presented and congratulated him with his Grade 1 Drum Kit certificate. Joseph has been continuing his lessons all summer with Mr Downey and he took his first exam over the summer achieving a DISTINCTION! 🎶🥁😊.

Well done Joseph, this is a fantastic result! 👏

Mrs Byrne is meeting all the new Year 8’s this week in class time and she will be giving information to boys regarding the extra curricular music lessons with our tutors. If anyone is interested please sign the consent form and return to Mrs Byrne as soon as possible so we can get lessons started next week. 🎶

Notification for Year 11 and 12 pupils

The Schools Partnership Programme begins back this Friday 11th September at Southern Regional College (SRC) for our year 11 and 12 pupils.

All pupils attending these classes on Fridays should come to school in their workwear clothing where a bus has been provided to the SRC. All pupils have been given a letter detailing the safety clothing requirements to attend these lessons. The letter is also available through the school app. Please pay particular attention to these clothing requirements so your son can complete his course successfully. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me through the school at any stage.

🙏 Dear St Joseph,

Patron Saint of our school, watch over me and all my family and friends.

God committed His own family to your care and appointed you guardian of His only Son.

We ask you to hear our prayers and bless our work, our teachers, our pupils and our whole school community.

School starts tomorrow, and before your children arrive, please take 5 minutes to talk to them about kindness, respect and inclusion.

Please remind them that being very tall, short, chubby, skinny or having a different skin colour is never a reason to laugh at or be unkind to someone.

👟 If someone wears the same shoes every day, that is not a reason to tease them.

🎒 A well-used school bag carries the same dreams and ambitions as a new one.

Please encourage your children not to exclude anyone because they are “different” or because they may not have the same opportunities or possessions.

💔 Teasing and BULLYING hurt.

Remind them that they come to school to LEARN, NOT TO COMPETE.

❤️ YOU AND I HAVE THE SAME VALUE. ❤️

Education begins at home.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Please ensure that your son(s) come to school fully equipped with the stationery they need each day.

We are increasingly finding that some pupils arrive to class without pens, pencils or other basic stationery. This can cause unnecessary disruption to teaching and learning.

🖊️ Please make sure your son has the basic stationery required for every school day.

It is not the responsibility of teachers or classroom assistants to provide pupils with basic stationery.

A little preparation each morning makes a big difference! ✅

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Your son received his School Diary during his induction morning.

The diary is an important piece of equipment and is required every day in school. Please encourage your son to use it daily to help him stay organised and keep track of his responsibilities. ✅

📌 Pupils should use their diary to:

* Record homework and assignments
* Record important announcements and reminders
* Read and sign the School Rules page
* Keep track of important information from school

👨‍🏫 Communication with Home

Class Teachers and Form Teachers will regularly write comments and information in your son’s diary.

We therefore ask parents/guardians to:

📖 Check the diary every day
✍️ Sign the diary at the end of each week
💬 Use the diary to write any notes or messages for teachers

Working together and keeping communication open helps our pupils stay organised, responsible and ready to learn. 💚
