🇧🇪 Brussels – Day 3 (Final Day)
Year 14 Business Studies & Economics Trip

Our final day in Brussels began with a visit to Autoworld Brussels, where students explored an impressive collection of historic and modern vehicles. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to reflect on themes studied in both Business Studies and Economics, including innovation, globalisation, and developments in manufacturing.

Following this, we travelled to Docks Brussels, where students enjoyed lunch and had some final time to explore the shops before beginning our journey home.

It was a fantastic trip, and our Year 14 students represented the school exceptionally well throughout the three days. In fact, our coach driver commented that it was the best school group he has ever had!

A wonderful experience that brought Business Studies and Economics to life by connecting classroom learning with real-world institutions and industries.

🇧🇪 Brussels – Day 2
Year 14 Business Studies & Economics Trip

Another excellent day in Brussels yesterday for our Year 14 students. We visited the European Parliament (Parlamentarium) and the European Commission, where students learned more about how key economic and political decisions are made across the European Union.

This was followed by dinner at Chez Léon, one of Brussels’ most famous restaurants. We finished the evening with a well-earned supper at a local waffle house.

A great day connecting Business Studies and Economics to real-world institutions.

Today is our final day in Brussels. We are looking forward to visiting Autoworld Brussels before some lunch and a final bit of shopping at the Docks Brussels ahead of our departure later this afternoon.

A fantastic trip so far and a brilliant experience for our students!

The Year 13 English Literature class visited the Seamus Heaney HomePlace centre on Tuesday, 3rd March.

They undertook a tour of the centre and attended a lecture given by Professor Fran Brearton from Queen’s University about the poetry of Robert Frost and Seamus Heaney for their upcoming AS exam.

The visit really brought Heaney’s poetry to life.
Thanks to Mrs McGlue and Mr O'Hare for accompanying the class.

🇧🇪 Brussels – Day 1
Year 14 Business Studies & Economics Trip

A fantastic first day in Brussels yesterday! Students visited the Grand Place and Manneken P*s during our guided tour before exploring production and supply chains at Concept Chocolate.

A special highlight was our visit to Bruxella 1238, connecting with our Franciscan heritage.

We finished the day with dinner at Wolf Food Market and are looking forward to visiting the European Parliament and European Commission tomorrow.

Comhghairdeas mór lenár scoláirí Ard Leibhéil Katie, Aisling agus Ceallagh a ghlac páirt i gcomórtas ABAIR ar na mallaibh. Labhair an triúr go múineach ar a rogha ábhair; ‘Uachtar na n-Uachtarán’, ‘Mamaithe Damhsa’, agus ‘Na Sacraimintí’ ina measc. Comhghairdeas ar leith le hAisling a ghnóthaigh áit sa chraobh amach anseo as 27 n-iomaitheoir!

We extend our congratulations to A-Level Irish students Katie, Aisling and Ceallagh who recently contested the ABAIR Irish public speaking competition. The three students spoke confidently on their chosen topics and we extend a special congratulations to Aisling who secured a place in the final. This was an eagerly contested competition with 27 competitors in the A-Level category.

Ár mbuíochas le Gael Linn!

We were treated to a show of talent last Thursday during our 'Masked Performer' event, organised by our school Mini Company - Evolve.

From dance groups to solo performances and duets, it was a really enjoyable afternoon, capped off by the return of our resident band - No Direction.

Moya McEvoy was a worthy winner after her beautiful piano performance, with the 'Beryllium Baddies' taking second place, and Aoife McNeill and Lauren McLoughlin's duets from 'Wicked' earning them third place.

Thanks to Mr McComb and team Evolve - Amy O'Hare, Roise Tohill, Mary Kate McPolin, Mia McMahon, Lara Gallagher and Alex Donnelly - for their organisation and smooth running of the event, with all proceeds going towards Trócaire.

Year 10 students enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of connection and fun at their Tea & Talk this week, organised by our dedicated Health and Wellbeing Ambassadors and supported by Aoife Doyle, Sacred Heart’s Wellbeing Coordinator.

The afternoon continued with plenty of energy and excitement as students took part in the Year 10 Quiz, expertly led by our Year 14 Senior Prefects.

It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm, teamwork, and school spirit on display. Congratulations to the winning teams and well done to everyone who took part — a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon for all!
