π₯ GAA Summer Camp 2026 β What a Three Days!
A huge thank you to every player who attended our GAA Summer Camp over the past three days. The effort, enthusiasm and willingness to learn from every group was outstanding from start to finish.
Throughout the camp, players worked with experienced coaches and county players, developing not only their GAA skills but also the athletic qualities that help transfer performance onto the pitch.
π‘οΈ Defensive Workshop β Aaron McKay
A huge thank you to Aaron McKay for delivering an outstanding defensive workshop. Drawing on his experience as an Armagh senior full-back, Aaron gave players a real insight into the detail behind elite defending and the importance of making good decisions under pressure.
Throughout the session, players worked on defensive positioning in 2v1 and fast-break situations, scramble defence, communication between teammates, and how to organise themselves defensively before the ball was even played. Aaron also coached defensive footwork, body positioning and opening the hips to move efficiently while staying in a strong position to delay attackers and protect space.
His knowledge of the game and attention to detail gave the players a different perspective on defending, with many taking away valuable lessons that they can now apply with their own clubs.
πββοΈ Athletic Development β Scott Winters
Players worked on movement quality, speed, agility and change of direction, learning how to cut, evade defenders and move more efficiently in game situations. Throughout the camp, the focus was on developing athletic qualities that transfer directly to the pitch through speed development, jumping and landing mechanics, and effective movement skills. Players also received an introduction to their home programme and Youth Development Guide, giving them the tools to continue their athletic development long after the camp had finished.
π Attacking Skills & Game Play β Stephen Dyas
Stephen led the attacking sessions, focusing on creating space, attacking movement and decision-making in game situations. Players worked on losing defenders, creating shooting opportunities and improving their ability to make the right decisions under pressure. The sessions challenged players to think for themselves while developing the confidence to express themselves with the ball.
π Special Thanks β Maeve Lennon & Brianna Mathers
A massive thank you to Armagh Ladies players Maeve Lennon and Brianna Mathers for giving up their time to coach throughout the camp. Their experience, enthusiasm and willingness to share their knowledge made a huge impact on the players, who learned a great deal about breaking down organised defences, movement off the ball and clinical finishing. It was fantastic for the boys and girls to learn from players competing at the highest level.
We also had Dromintee Minor Ulster winner Ronan Martin with us to give the players an insight this his own underage success. Ronan was a huge hit with all of the players who took a lot on board.
π Putting It All Together
The final day brought everything together with competitive 5v5 games, where players applied the skills they had developed throughout the camp. Teams organised themselves, decided how they wanted to play and adapted their tactics throughout each game, encouraging communication, leadership and decision-making rather than relying on coaches to dictate every play.
It was brilliant to watch players solve problems together, support one another and put everything they had learned into realistic game situations. The quality of football, teamwork and decision-making on display was a credit to every player.
π§ The Home Program and Youth Development Guide have now been emailed to all parents, giving players the tools to continue improving beyond the camp. Long-term athletic development is built through consistent habits, and we hope these resources help players continue their progress throughout the season.
Finally, thank you to all the parents for your support over the three days and to everyone who helped make the camp such a success. We thoroughly enjoyed working with every player and hope they leave with greater confidence, new friendships and plenty of knowledge to take back to their own clubs.
Keep an eye on our page for future camps and coaching opportunitiesβweβre already looking forward to the next one!
