What a night! What an achievement!

We are absolutely bursting with pride as Mrs Gina Savage has been crowned Principal of the Year and Miss Phyllis McQuillan has been named Post Primary Teacher of the Year at the 2026 Education Awards! 🎉

Two incredible ladies, two prestigious awards and one very proud Abbey community!

To say we are delighted is an understatement. Both awards are so richly deserved and are a wonderful recognition of the dedication, passion and commitment they bring to our school every single day.

A clean sweep for the Abbey! What a night to remember! 👏🏆❤️

🌟 PROUD IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT! 🌟

It’s not very often we get to share a post like this, but by God, are we proud!

Tomorrow evening, two of our wonderful colleagues will attend the Local Women Magazine Education Awards 2026 at the Europa Hotel in Belfast, having been shortlisted for two very special awards.

🏆 Mrs Gina Savage – Principal of the Year

🏆 Miss Phyllis McQuillan – Teacher of the Year

To say we are delighted and immensely proud of both colleagues is an understatement. To even be nominated and recognised in this way is a tremendous achievement and a reflection of the dedication, commitment and care they bring to our school community every single day.

We cannot wait to see them celebrated tomorrow evening, and we will be cheering them on every step of the way!

Irrespective of the outcome, you are already winners in our eyes! 🤩

From everyone in the Abbey family, we couldn’t be prouder of you both.

👏👏 Good luck, ladies

💛 World Mental Health Day 2026 💛

A huge thank you to all our students and staff who got behind today’s non-uniform fundraiser in support of World Mental Health Day.

A fantastic effort from so many of our lads, with plenty of yellow on show and some great outfits too! 👏💛

Today was about much more than wearing yellow. It was about raising awareness, breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and reminding everyone of the importance of looking after ourselves and each other.

It’s okay not to be okay, and it’s always okay to ask for help. 💛

Well done, boys, and thank you to everyone who supported such an important cause! 👏

Our Year 8 GAA for All boys were back in action today, welcoming St Mark’s, Warrenpoint, to the Abbey for a challenge game.

A huge thank you to St Mark’s for making the journey to 77A Ashgrove Road.

Another fantastic opportunity for our young lads to pull on the Abbey jersey, represent their school with pride and, most importantly, enjoy playing a sport they love!

GAA for All – giving every boy the opportunity to get involved! 👏
