The Shropshire Astronomical Society (SAS) is a county-wide group for anyone interested in astronomy, star-gazing or space exploration. It meets once a month for observing sessions, and about twice a year for lectures by guest speakers

The SAS is keen to promote astronomy and raise public awareness of astronomy. Its aim is to make astronomy available to EVERYONE with an interest in the night sky regardless of their level of knowledge

We meet on the third Saturday of the month* at Rodington Village Hall. Doors open at 7.30 and meetings start at 8. Visitors are welcome. (*December dates may vary)

October to March, we meet at Little Ness for observing on the second Saturday in the month - this is weather dependent and is open to all.

This Saturday is our monthly meeting at Rodington where Steve will go through a talk for beginners on telescopes. All are welcome, including visitors. Fingers crossed we have clear skies for observing later.

This Saturday is observing at Little Ness - please check the forecast and the skies before venturing out - it is highly unlikely that the side roads will be gritted.

What time is the supermoon lunar eclipse? There will be a partial eclipse of the harvest supermoon on Tuesday night, visible across the UK - clouds permitting.

We will have Telford and District Amateur Radio Society will be with us as a follow on event about detecting meteors. Attendees need to bring a fully charged laptop so they can participate.

There is a partial eclipse on Monday 8th April- sadly Shropshire is unlikely to see it but if you are elsewhere (the South West?) you may be able to see something- assuming there are no clouds of course.
