Why You’re Not Seeing Progress Despite Working Out Consistently

Are you working out regularly but not seeing the results you want? 🤔

Here’s the hard truth: consistency is great, but progress requires PROGRESSION!

If you’re doing the same exercises, the same weights, and the same reps every week, your body has no reason to change ❌

The key? Gradually increase the challenge - heavier weights, more reps, better form.

You want to be asking more from your body this session than you did at your last, that's what will drive adaptation!

Don’t just go through the motions... train with intent and watch your progress skyrocket 🚀

Here’s one for the ladies…

Will Lifting Weights Make Me Bulky? 🏋️‍♀️💪

Spoiler alert: No. Lifting weights won’t turn you into the Hulk. Unless you’ve got gamma radiation on tap, in which case... call Marvel?

Here’s the deal: getting “bulky” is hard work. It takes serious effort, heavy lifting, and eating like it’s your full-time job.

For most of us, lifting weights builds lean, toned muscles that look awesome and feel even better.

🔑 Why You Won’t Bulk Up
1️⃣ Hormones: Most women don’t have enough testosterone for major muscle growth.
2️⃣ Training Style: Your 3 workouts a week ≠ bodybuilder regime.
3️⃣ Burn, Baby, Burn: Muscle boosts your metabolism, even when Netflix is your cardio ;)

🎉 What You’ll Get

A sculpted, strong body for bikini weather.
A core that says “Abs not Kebabs”
Legs built for stairs and strutting.

Long story short, lose the fear and grab the weights!

3️⃣👀 Here's 3 things you should know if you're new to fitness or are resuming after a period of time away from it:

1) Don't go mad throwing the metaphorical kitchen sink at yourself📈

After an extended period of time away from working out you'll find that you can exert enough effort to get your body to react with less exercise than when you wrapped up. Over time you can add more sets to your workouts or minutes to your cardio. In short, start more gently and work your way up with ability.

2) Nobody expects you to go from Zero to Hero overnight🦸‍♂️

Just because you've told people you're working out again and are spending a few hours a week focusing on your health doesn't mean tangible results come straight away. It may take a couple of days/weeks for you to fall into a groove that works for you and then for the body to react with enough small changes to add up to something noticeable, especially when you see yourself daily. Others will likely notice your efforts before you do!

3) You can't out-train a bad diet! ❌

So often I'll speak to people who are telling me about all the training they're doing yet talk about going home to smash a massive dinner afterwards. Yes this is great if you're bulking but the vast majority aren't, they're trying to lose weight. Just because you worked out for 3 hours doesn't mean you can go home and sink 2000 calories in a big dinner and ice cream to reward yourself, thats just not how it works. Track foods using myfitnesspal (trust me it's a game changer) and adjust accordingly in line with body weight movement.

🚨 STOP Chasing the “Magic Rep Range” 🚨

You’ve probably heard it a million times: “Do 8-12 reps for muscle growth.” But here’s the truth, those numbers mean NOTHING if you’re not training to failure💥

The key to building muscle isn’t the exact rep count, it’s how close you push your muscles to their limit. Whether it’s 6, 10, or 15 reps, what really matters is that your final rep feels like you couldn’t possibly do one more with proper form

That said, different rep ranges have their place in that they FOCUS (but aren’t exclusively) towards:

Lower reps (3–6) for building strength
Higher reps (12–20) for endurance or joint health
Moderate reps (8–12) for hypertrophy

Even warm-up sets serve a purpose, but they’re not where muscle growth happens

The takeaway? Don’t fall into the trap of stopping just because you hit a number someone else told you about. If your set isn’t challenging enough to cause fatigue, you’re leaving gains on the table

Push harder. Go to failure. That’s how you force your muscles to adapt and grow 🔑💪

☠️Stop with the all bu****it about the “Anabolic Window”☠️

Running home to slam a protein source within 0.1 seconds of finishing your workout so that you don’t “lose your gains” is 💩

Consuming a protein source within 6 hours of working out (aswell as generally consuming a high protein diet), eating in a surplus and getting adequate sleep is what’s going to help you lock in your gains. 🔐

👀Not everything you see online tells the whole story📖

In the fitness world, it’s easy to come across people showing off incredible physiques or superhuman skills, claiming their methods are the ultimate secret to success

But remember, what you see isn’t always what’s real ❌

Behind the scenes, there are often factors at play that aren’t mentioned, things that make their results far from typical or achievable for most people

Don’t let those polished images or flashy claims make you doubt your own journey

Real progress comes from knowledge, skill and consistency, not quick fixes or secret shortcuts 💉

Focus on what works for you, built on sustainable habits and honest effort

True fitness is about the journey, not the illusion 🤡

These 3 Mistakes Are Killing Your Gains!

1. Poor Form🤸

I've seen my fair share of poorly executed movements across the years, in fact thats partly why people come to me, to improve form and prevent injury.

I myself have suffered at the hands of poor form in the past and can tell you it definitely holds back 50% of those you see in the gym from making progress.

Loading less weight into a movement but executing it flawlessly will give better results than loading it to the max and butchering form.

2. Skipping rest Days🛌

There's two types of people in this world, those who need to be forced to take a rest day and those who need to be forced to go to the gym.

If you're the first person, you could be progressing at a slower pace than someone who is forcing themselves to go.

This is because recovery and muscle growth only happen at rest and primarily when you're sleeping.

Over training the body doesn't allow it to fully rest thus recovery is hampered.

3. Under Eating🍓

On top of muscle growth only happening while at rest, it needs to be in a caloric surplus to be able to dedicate resources to building muscle.

If you're not eating more than you're using what are you meant to build muscle with?

It's the equivalent of hiring a load of workers to build a house but not giving them the materials to build it.

Count your calories and if weight is coming off/ holding steady then you need to add more food to the equation or find a way to stop burning so many calories through exercise.
