We are thrilled to announce that Eamon Curran has been nominated for the prestigious ECA Edmundson Apprentice of the Year Award 2024! 🏆 This incredible honour is part of the National Apprenticeship Skills Awards, organised by the Department of Education in England, and it recognises the top apprentices across the entire UK.

Eamon completed his Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification in February 2024 at the Portadown campus. Throughout his apprenticeship, he has shown outstanding dedication, skill, and perseverance. A huge thank you to his tutors Ivan Walker, Garry Larkham, and Mark Kennedy for their exceptional guidance and support.

Our Monitoring and placement officer, Molly was out on site visiting first-year level 2 joinery apprentice Zack Thompson.

Zack works with Fernhill Kitchens 4 days a week to build his experience and knowledge while improving and growing in his chosen trade.

Zack works in the workshop making kitchens, bespoke wardrobes, and utility rooms; however, his apprenticeship is not confined to the workshop alone – he is also out in the field, putting his skills to the test by fitting these masterpieces into the homes of eager customers

Zack is thoroughly enjoying his bench joinery course which he attends one day per week within Southern Regional College as he earns and learns.

Adam and Jonathan had competed in the Inter Campus SkillBuild in Feb. Adam came 1st and Jonathan 2nd place in the Electrical Installation category.

Apprentices Journey so far...

Adam Skelton 3rd year L3 Electrotechnical Apprentice

Adam completed A ‘Level’s and went to Queens to study Computer Science but in his 1st, year decided that it was not for him, he also tried working in a sales role. After Covid, Adam decided to look for an Apprenticeship in Electrical Installation, which would give him the chance to earn and learn and qualify as an electrician. He hasn’t looked back and really enjoys his course. Adam has completed his logbook evidence and 3rd year, he will be working towards his AM2 after the summer.
Adam is employed by MD Electrics and gaining good, varied experience, Mark his employer is very pleased with his progress and work.

Jonathan Gough 2nd year L3 Electrotechnical Apprentice-

Jonathan completed his A ‘Levels but was not interested in the university route, he wanted a more hands on practical course and was interested in electrical. He secured a place in SRC for electrical Installation apprenticeship route and employment with MD Electrics. Jonathan has just completed his 2nd year and is really enjoying his course and employment with MD gaining valuable skills.

Katie made the decision to progress to Level 3 Motor Vehicle Light, having completed her Level 2 Motor Vehicle Light with Gilmores Garage. Katie’s dedication and hard work is clear to see. The skills and knowledge offered from the apprenticeship combined with the practical application on the job has set Katie up for success.

Monitoring and Placement Officer, Damian was on site visiting 3rd year Level Floor Electrotechnical Apprentice, Gary Armstrong.

Gary is completing his apprenticeship with ADC Electrics working 4 days per week, mentored by Craig Acheson, Gary is a third-year student who has completed his NVQ logbook and is in the process of booking the AM2 assessment which is the final assessment of the level 3 NVQ Electrical Installation course.
