Winner: Aoife Rooney, Collins Aerospace👏

The judges were impressed by the initiative, technical ability and professionalism demonstrated by Collins Aerospace apprentice Aoife Rooney. The panel recognised her contribution to continuous improvement projects, including the introduction of digital tools and QR code systems, alongside the confidence and trust she has earned within the business at an early stage in her career. The judges also praised her proactive mindset, leadership qualities and commitment to developing her skills within the engineering and manufacturing sector.

Collins Aerospace – Apprenticeship Week - rewarding route into employment 👏
Claire McPhillips (HR business partner Collins Aerospace) and Aoife Rooney (Opex higher level apprentice Collins Aerospace – Business L5 HND HLA SRC) presented to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business students re the opportunities for apprenticeships.
The presentation provided prospective applicants with a valuable insight into the company’s 2026 apprenticeship vacancies and the pathways available for those interested in developing their career.
Students had the opportunity to speak directly to gain first-hand knowledge about the opportunities as well as the skills required to succeed in this competitive industry.
Claire and Aoife provided guidance on the subjects and qualifications needed to apply, as well as advice on navigating the application process. The event was designed to help people better understand how apprenticeships can provide a practical and rewarding route into employment while gaining recognised qualifications.

Our Level 2 Business Administration students were delighted to welcome Gillian Baxter, Recruitment Manager at Staffline, to college for an engaging presentation on career planning.

Students gained valuable insights into researching the job market, building an effective CV, understanding what employers are looking for, dressing appropriately for interviews, and preparing for the job application process.

Congratulations Ashleigh - well deserved

Congratulations to Ashleigh for winning the Personal Ambition award for the Henderson Wholesale Group.

Ashleigh Mccullough who is an apprentice on Business Level 5 HND HLA course at Newry campus won the Personal Ambition award for the Henderson Wholesale Group.

The award is an acknowledgement for continuously growing and improving her own self-development to make a real difference at work.

Ashleigh chose to undertake the Business L5 HND HLA so she could progress her knowledge within the business environment and provide opportunities to progress into higher education in the future.

For Ashleigh, the best part of being a Higher Level Apprentice is to allow flexibility for learning and development whilst balancing full-time work.

In her role Ashleigh provides support and advice in relation to Human Resources and her responsibilities include recruitment and training within this field.

Ashleigh finds a work-life balance through spending time with friends and family. Ashleigh previously completed two courses with the SRC including my CIPD Level 3 in Human Resource Practice & Level 5 in Human Resource Management.
