It is with great sadness that we hear of the passing of our former art teacher, Mrs Nancy Fearon.

Nancy was a much-loved and fondly remembered teacher who inspired many pupils through her kindness, patience and love of art. She made a lasting impression on those she taught, and we know many former pupils will have treasured memories of their time in her classroom.

Nancy’s husband, John, was also a much-respected teacher in St Louis Grammar School, Kilkeel, and both Nancy and John are fondly remembered by the St Louis community.

We extend our sincere sympathy to their family and friends at this very sad time. The St Louis community will remember Nancy and John in our thoughts and prayers.

We regret to inform you of the recent death of Nancy Feron

The entire community of St Louis Grammar School, Kilkeel, was saddened to learn of the passing of former Principal, Dr Celestine Devlin.

St. Louis will always be indebted to the exceptionally dedicated and conscientious Dr. C.J. Devlin with his very rich educational background, PhD in Chemistry, Master in Education and part-time tutor with the Open University. He had taught in the school for fifteen years, been a member of senior management for seven years and Vice Principal for five years. He was very well equipped to take charge of Kilkeel at a very significant period in educational reform in Northern Ireland.

Dr Devlin served as Principal from 1991 - 2004. His kind and gentle nature endeared him to everyone and he commanded the respect of all in St Louis. Dr Devlin always adopted a child centred approach and took time to get to know staff and students alike. A quiet word of reassurance or an empathetic check-in often followed in trying times or after absence and Dr Devlin’s desire to see every child fulfil their potential was always evident.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Dr Devlin’s wife, Ursula, a past teacher in St Louis, to his children Tara, Colin, Sinead and the late Aine and to the wider family circle.
