The Science Room The Science Room is a STEM Educational Consultancy run by Dr Karen Mooney (she/her) The Science Room is all about teaching science to everyone.

I follow a STEAM approach, using Art and creative approaches in teaching STEM topics. Services include 1-2-1 and online GCSE and A-Level Science tuition, homeschool and afterschool science clubs, careeer mentoring and STEM speaker, freelance science consulting. I'm a scientist specialising in freshwater and marine systems and sustainable development. My research has been featured in radio, New Sci

entist magazine and on ITV primetime. I spent 10 years working in public sector research and education at Edinburgh Napier University and Queen's University Belfast. I have coordinated large multinational research projects, and national statutory programmes for numerous stakeholders spanning the private, public and third sectors. I am a STEM Ambassador since 2013 and write the science column in NI4Kids family magazine.

Our Saturday Science Clubs are back! We are starting on Saturday 5th September, from 10-11am at the Science Room lab at 13a Hill Street!
For a super fun mix of Lego, science experiments and art, come along and learn a little too! Booking is essential.

We are hosting a Public Information Evening on Monday 10th August at 6-8pm in South Lake Leisure Centre, Craigavon to explain all about the project, what we are planning to do and how the public can get involved.

Our Science Camp for next week is Fully Booked, we have no spaces left. I'm so looking forward to another exciting week of science, Lego and fun!

If you want to book on, please email me and I'll add you to the waiting list for any cancellations. If you have booked and have yet to pay, please check your emails for payment details as your booking is not fully confirmed until payment is received.

As a small business, when we have no-shows who have booked and not paid it creates a real problem for us, especially when we are turning other children away, so any places that are unpaid will be offered to the waiting list on Sunday evening.

What a week at Science Camp! We did all about Butterflies and symmetry in nature, UV light, painted glow in the dark monsters and Friday was space and engineering day! The kids shot rockets and built aliens, the mars rover and all kids of Lego creations!

Week 2 starts on Tuesday 21st July and there are very limited spaces left!!

I'm so proud of the little company I have built. From leaving a fantastic academic career to do... something, anything that would allow me to do lots of science communication and help people, The Science Room was born.

It's now an award winning small business, I've delivered events to schools, community groups and businesses across the country, taught thousands of children some science along the way and inspired many to believe in themselves, including myself.

I know it's been raining a lot but we must be due a bit of sun as it's getting close to summer exam time!! The ever-popular Exam Cram revision sessions are back on in The Science Room lab, with weekend workshops before each of the Double Award Science and A Level Biology exams.
Sessions are all £32 each (still a bargain!) and include targeted topic revision, past paper questions, and revision and exam guidance. Booking is essential.
