THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS ARE HERE... WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?
Teachers are off, kids are free...it's 6 weeks of freedom from the day to day routine....but feelings around this time can be mixed.
During my time working in the fitness industry, the two busiest months are January and September. Months that follow a change in routine, habits and lots of people ready to get back in to their normal patterns.
I love my kids dearly, but my Sunday planning sessions are going to be a little trickier trying to juggle entertainment and care for them, working and my fitness goals.
But I know this is temporary, and I will adjust and adapt 🙂
Here are a few of my tips to keep active this summer. It may not be your traditional method, but in my opinion it is always good to keep variety in life...
⭐️Plan your week. Everything. Write it down - but make time for your fitness commitments. I normally suggest clients go light if they have a change of routine in the summer, but they still remain accountable to a pattern.
⭐️Remember that you and your wellbeing are important. Keep yourself high on the list of priorities and schedule some time for you.
⭐️Join in! Kids in a swimming lesson? Why not take your swimsuit too if you can get a few lengths in. Kids love cycling? Get on your bike and join in! Kids playing footie in the garden? Go and have a go!
⭐️Sign up for an event in the Autumn. You will still remain accountable to a goal which may give you that extra push to get moving.
⭐️Grow your own. Trust me to bring this one in! There is still plenty of time to get some salad growing in your garden or on a windowsill. If you are moving less you may want to adjust your nutrition accordingly. I'm sure JP Nutrition - Nutrition Consultancywould have some great ideas for this 😘.
⭐️Check out what is going on in the local area. Maybe you can try out a new activity with the kids? Holidaying by the sea? Try a surfing lesson! If you are in Cornwall, Kingsurf do AMAZING lessons for adults and kids.
⭐️Workout with the kids. Find things around the house and make a circuit. My kids love telling me what to do, you can have plenty of laughs. Bit of a lockdown fav that one!
⭐️Plan some days out! Down the beach? Try digging with the kids or playing a game of cricket. Down the park? Have a go on the zip wire. There is are so many benefits to doing little and often rather than a once a week beast.
⭐️ Finally, sleep. Make a conscious effort to get to bed on time on quieter days. Not having the rush of school in the morning will be a welcome opportunity to many.
Remember, it is just 6 weeks. Fitness and healthy living is forever. Have fun and make memories.

What a start to the day this morning … thanks Kingsurf for sharing
Known all over for their infamous surf school Kingsurf, this family of four is epic in every single way. Insanely gorgeous and even more charismatic, these guys create smiles as they go. Angie; marine biologist, insane surfer, and mum of impossibly cute Marlon and Rudy, is a beach babe through and through. Husband Pete, or KingSurf(er), has taught all over the world and is renowned in the Cornish Surf scene. What a dream team 🧡🤙
