What a great camp. Despite being a bit damp we have had a wonderful time. Our final breakfast before our last activity and then we will be coming home for a good night's sleep!

Lapwings had a great time on their trip to Geevor Tin Mine on Wednesday. We got to experience a guided tour of the surface of the mine, the mill and a walk through an underground mine - where we were surprised by how narrow some parts of it were! Visiting the miners’ dry room was really interesting as it had been left exactly as it was on the day Geevor Tin Mine officially closed in 1990 so we got to see the miners’ clothes and belongings that they kept in their lockers. We even got to watch how tin is separated from waste rock and have a go at panning for minerals ourselves! The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves, with some even saying it was the best trip ever! All children demonstrated our Cubert values throughout the day and had some really thoughtful questions to ask. Thank you to our parents, the PTFA and Cornwall Heritage Trust who have all put money towards allowing children to have this experience! 🪨 ⛏️

Ahead of our trip to Geevor Tin Mine next Wednesday, Lapwings had a morning spent immersing themselves in all things mining! We got to learn about tin and copper, hold mining tools and dress up in miner’s outfits to learn more about the job roles and what life was like for miners. We even got to sing along to some Cornish mining songs on the guitar at the end! Lapwings really made the most of this experience by exploring all the artefacts and asked lots of really interesting questions to deepen our learning from history last term and prepare us for our trip next week! ⛏️ 🪨 Thanks to the PTFA for their support to allow this session to go ahead 😊
