***Info about upcoming online courses***
Bonjour tout le monde :)
I hope you've all been having some wonderful summer moments despite the current restrictions and challenges. I know a lot of you won't have had your usual time in France this year but not to worry, your opportunities for further French speaking practice and culture immersion is not in the least bit lost for the coming year.
Other than my Adult Education courses for Cornwall Council and private classes, I've decided to run some more online group courses this year. I'll be keeping the numbers very low: 3-6 people only, as I want to be able to see and hear you all and give you as much 121 time and feedback as possible.
I'll be running an Absolute Beginners class, an Experienced Beginners class and an Improvers class. These classes all come with a fun and helpful weekly email full of resources to keep you immersed and learning throughout the week. How much you do is totally up to you however, we all have different workloads and availability, so there's never any pressure.
The BEGINNERS CLASS will be a step by step progressive class to enable you all to be confidently getting to know the French basics. This will include introducing yourself, looking at themed vocabulary around everyday life, our professions, age, weather, numbers, french culture as well as the practical things of how to order drinks, and food in restaurants, ask for directions and tickets for events and travel. We will do this by using all kinds of resources including role play, games, grammar exercises, videos and music.
The EXPERIENCED BEGINNERS class will have a lot more basic conversation practice and role play. We will explore popular daily life practical themes and discuss these in the group and in pairs, for half the class and explore necessary and relavent grammar points for the second half. This is a really great way for me to get to know exactly where you're at and to help correct gaps in knowledge and pronunciation as we go along. The closest things to a 121 in a group setting as you can get, with the advantage of practicing with peers.
The IMPROVERS class will have a more in depth, flowing and experienced conversation practice and role plays. Here we will discuss some daily practicalities but also hold a space for more cultural themed discussion, developing language and ease around sharing personal experiences, feelings and thoughts. We will explore popular themes and discuss these in the group and in pairs for half the class and explore grammar points for the second half. This is a really great way for me to get to know exactly where you're at and to help correct gaps in knowledge and pronunciation as we go along. The closest things to a 121 in a group setting as you can get, with the advantage of practicing with peers.
With all the classes, there will be a wide range of fun educational media and resources, that will be expanding, inspirational and very relavent to you. My speciality accrued, from over a decade of teaching, is to create a space of easeful and fun learning, where everyone is welcome and has the support to improve greatly. By making sure that you have the right inspirational materials, the learning happens by itself and there is no need for any huge effort or stress. I have helped students that have almost given up, unable to find something that worked for them but also people with learning disorders, brain injuries and mental health difficulties. My experience, patience and resolve to support and help my students is vast, so do come and join in, wherever you're at in your French learning journey.
The classes will be £15 per class (1 hour 45mins), either all to be paid in full at the start of the term, or by a payment plan, over the duration of the course. There will be a daytime and an evening option for all three classes during the week and these will be starting in the second week of September. Please get in touch with your schedule preferences while the groups are still forming. Exact dates will be posted shortly.
A très bientôt :)
