This half term in our Science lessons in Maple class, we are looking at Cornish scientists and pioneers and local heritage, linked to our overall driver question of 'What can we learn from those who came before us?'
Today we focussed on the idea of filtration and learned about the China Clay Pits in St Austell. We researched about their history and looked at how they filter out parts they don't want, to be left with the final product.
Using observational skills and super teamwork, each group set up a different variable and we then compared results at the end and reasoned why some filters worked better than others, looking for the filter who left the clearest water.
An excellent start back to our scientific learning. Let's see what or who our local focus is next week....
