We have a new name and logo!

After many years under the name 'Tabba's Adventures' we decided it's time for a rebrand.
Tabba is still the matriarch and we very much still have lots of adventures. But now we have such a great crew of the best early years educators, we thought a brand that reflects the whole team and our pioneering ethos is needed.
So, introducing: Mini Minds!
We are a team who are passionate about, not only 'minding' children, but developing their minds.
We take great pride in knowing that all of our team are not only passionate about child development, but have the skills and knowledge to put it into practice.
Education is the coming together of minds, one mind influencing another through relational skills. Early years children dont care about the fancy building, or the fancy toys, but they do care (and need) stable and secure relationships with adults they trust. We are therefore pioneering a new standard in early years provision, grounded in the most robust psychological theories and research, that focuses on the most important core emotional needs of the children through quality adult - child interactions. Letting big minds shape mini minds.

Message from Rhys Hughes (Founder, Husband and Father)

For several years I have been quietly squirreling away developing my career in Psychotherapy, alongside the incredibly rewarding work of running an early years setting. As my practice developed it became increasingly clear that parental support is a much needed, yet under-provided, service.

Therefore, I am making it my mission to provide space for parents to work through the challenges of raising children in an ever changing world.

But this service won't stop with parents, it takes a village to raise a child, and our villages have become scattered. Parental figures are almost as fundamental as parents in shaping a child's life.
So I am also making it my mission to provide support for parental figures to understand the children in their care and meet every one of their needs effectively (starting with those who are spending the most time with children at the most pivotal and vulnerable time in their lives, childcare practitioners).

As part of developing this service, I have undertaken a Psychology degree, to understand the theory and research behind child development further, network with the researchers and aim to take it to new heights.

I am concluding this degree by conducting research into how past experiences of being parented shape present parenting approaches.

This is a 30 minute, anonymous survey. Completing it will help shape further work in parent and education support.

If every adult took it upon themselves to understand their role to nurture, care and prepare every child in love and wisdom, then by design the world would set aside its differences and focus on that which brings universal meaning - caring for those who come after us.

Many thanks

When Parents visit they often ask how it works in a mixed age setting so here are just a few of the key benefits we have experienced with the children that attend 🥰

1.Social and Emotional Growth
Younger ones look up to the older kids, picking up new skills and confidence, while the older ones learn patience, kindness, and how to be little role models. Children learn empathy, take turns, and support each other.

2. Learning Through Play
Children naturally learn from each other. Younger children watch and copy the older ones, which can help them pick up new words, problem-solving skills, or even how to master tricky activities like building a tower or putting on their shoes. Meanwhile, older children reinforce what they’ve learned by teaching the younger ones—without even realizing it! It’s like having little mentors in the group.

3. A Warm, Family-Like Setting
Because children of different ages interact, it creates a more natural, homely environment—just like they’d experience in real life with siblings or cousins. This will make them feel safe, secure and comfortable.

4. Encourages Independence & Responsibility
Older children naturally take on leadership roles, helping younger ones with little tasks, which is great for their confidence and sense of responsibility. Meanwhile, younger children become more independent too, watching and learning from their older friends.

5. More Fun & Creativity
When children of different ages play together, the activities tend to be more creative. Instead of competing, they find ways to include everyone, leading to more imaginative games and problem-solving. Whether it’s a pretend adventure, a building challenge, or a simple game of hide-and-seek, they work together in a way that makes playtime fun and inclusive.

6. Handy for Parents Too!
Mixed-age settings mean your child doesn’t have to move to a new setting/room as they grow, providing stability and familiar faces along the way until they are ready with all the core skills for school and beyond.

All in all, we have found that a mixed-age early years setting is a fantastic way for children to develop socially, emotionally, and intellectually while having a great time with their friends of all ages! 🥰

Jesse, you are the sweetest, bubbliest, funniest, and most caring boy. We're going to miss you so much as you start this exciting new adventure at school. We've watched you grow from a baby with just a few hairs and teeth into a beaming 4-year-old with a head full of curly hair and a smile that lights up the room. Go and rock it at school, Jesse and keep on climbing! 💙 💪
