Week 3 in clay!

It’s been a busy old week here at Wedge, lots of big classes and family functions which has been so lovely to get to know everyone and see the beautiful things they create!
We’re all busy getting the last bits made and finished for in St Ives on the 17th so exited to see people down there to celebrate the amazing skilled and outstanding potters and pottery’s of Cornwall.

Our kilns having a moment but well be back with the fresh fires next week, it’s been fun going through some archives and remembering all those videos i took and promised to make into reels at some point 🙃🙃🙃

Our next beginners course starts first week of June so if you’re thinking about it… DO IT! I promise you, no one has ever regretted doing a pottery course.

A week in clay

Welcome to our weekly round ups from Wedge, a mixture of members work, students work and workshops this week. We’re getting ready for a busy weekend and getting our kiln moved and eventually installing our community mosaic we made 8 months ago 🙃

🎨 Calling all home learners! 🎨
Claymates is a fun and engaging 6-week version of our popular Fundamentals in Clay course, specially designed for home-schooled children aged 6–16.
Starting 23rd April, this hands-on course introduces young creatives to the exciting world of clay. Across six weeks, students will explore essential techniques such as shaping, sculpting, texturing, and glazing — all while building confidence, creativity, and practical skills.
✨ What to expect:
• Small, supportive group sessions
• Step-by-step guidance from experienced instructors
• A variety of creative projects to take home
• A relaxed, friendly environment perfect for all skill levels
Spaces are limited to ensure each child gets plenty of individual attention, so early booking is recommended!

Some absolutely gorgeous pieces made by our members and staff came out the kiln today 🌞

Mind boggling that some of these were made by people who have only been making for 3 months! If you fancy it, our next Fundamentals of Clay course will start in May, so you too could make some beautiful ceramics!
