🌞 Keeping Children Safe During the Heatwave 🌞

With the hot weather continuing, we would like to remind all families of a few simple ways to help keep children safe and comfortable:

πŸ’§ Please ensure your child brings a named water bottle to school each day.

🧒 Children should wear a sun hat or cap when outdoors.

🧴 Apply a long-lasting sunscreen before school. If your child needs to reapply during the day, please provide a named bottle for them to reapply at break times.

🌳 We will be encouraging children to stay in shaded areas where possible and will adapt outdoor activities if temperatures become too high.

πŸƒ Children may feel more tired than usual in hot weather, so please encourage them to get plenty of rest and stay hydrated at home too.

Thank you for your support in helping us keep everyone safe during the heatwave. If you have any concerns, please speak to a member of staff.

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine! β˜€οΈ

Year 4 are having a great time on their residential πŸ₯°

Day One Report: After an amazing supper of spaghetti bolognaise we headed out to the camp fire for songs, games and cooking marshmallows. Everyone had a great time and were happy to join in with Mrs Sharp’s daft camping songs. Then as the woodland turned dark, we headed off for a night walk with no torches. Our senses were heightened and we realised how special this site is.

Exhaustion hit and everyone tumbled into bed and were asleep in less than half an hour. But there was no lie-in as the sound of children’s voices echoed around the camp at 6.30! So it was up for day 2.

The forest day turned the children into scientists researching mini beasts and dissecting owl pellets. And much more natural history investigations.

Everyone was so supportive of each other and really worked as a team, sharing all the jobs from tent tidying to washing up. Well done Year 4.

🌱πŸ₯• A big well done to Mrs Johnstone's Gardening After School Club! πŸ₯”πŸŒΏ

The children have been busy harvesting some of the wonderful produce they have grown this term, ready to be used on the Year 4 residential this week. It has been fantastic to see their hard work, patience and dedication pay off as they watched their fruits and vegetables grow from tiny seeds into a successful harvest.

What a brilliant way to enjoy fresh, home-grown produce while learning valuable gardening skills along the way. We are so proud of all our young gardeners and can't wait to see what they grow next! πŸŒ»πŸ…πŸŒ±

🌼🐝 Wonderful Collaborative Play in Flower Bee Class! 🐝🌼

It was lovely to see so much teamwork and perseverance during our afternoon learning today.

🧩 Iviee and R worked together brilliantly to complete the gingerbread house puzzle, showing great cooperation and problem-solving skills.

πŸ¦– Ada-Olive and Theo demonstrated fantastic perseverance as they tackled one of our trickier dinosaur puzzles. They didn't give up and were delighted when they completed it!

🚚 In the construction area, Cleo, Kobe and Bodhi were busy creating a fleet of Ninja trucks. Their imaginations were in full flow as they explained, "They're invisible so no one can see them!" We loved hearing the stories and ideas behind their creations.

These moments of collaboration, communication and creativity are so important, and we are incredibly proud of the way the children work and play together. ⭐

🐝 News from Bumble Bee Class! 🐝

What a busy week of learning we've had!

πŸ”’ In Maths, the children have been exploring capacity and volume. They investigated different containers, filled them to various levels, and compared how much each could hold. We've been learning that capacity is how much a container can hold, while volume is the amount that is actually inside it. Ask your child if they can explain the difference to you!

🎨 In Art, we were inspired by the colourful designs of Clarice Cliff. The children learned about primary and secondary colours and used circles to create their own beautiful plate designs. Once the paint has dried, we'll be adding a striking black tree silhouette using a very exciting technique – blowing paint through straws!

We can't wait to share the finished masterpieces with you! πŸŒ³πŸ–ŒοΈβœ¨
