Sunday morning family class 🥋👊
Always great to have this enthusiastic young man in class, especially when he gets to train alongside his dad! He brings loads of energy and is a real pleasure to teach.
Brilliant work from both of you! 👏
🌟 Student of the Month 🌟
This award isn’t just about being the best at kicks or patterns.
It’s about effort, attitude, consistency and being a positive example to the people around you.
We’re really proud of this month’s winner and everything they’ve done to earn it 👏🥋
“What if my child is too shy to start martial arts?”
This is one of the most common worries parents have.
And honestly, that’s completely normal.
Some children need a bit more time. Some need a little encouragement. Some need to watch first, get used to the room, and ease into the class at their own pace.
That’s okay.
We don’t expect every child to walk in full of confidence on day one.
Confidence is something we help them build — step by step, class by class.

At 3, 4, 5 or 6 years old, children aren’t mini adults.
They get distracted.ďż˝
They forget instructions.ďż˝
They wobble.ďż˝
They get excited.ďż˝
They sometimes need things explained twice.
That’s completely normal.
Our Tots classes are built around that age group. We use simple martial arts skills, structured games, clear routines and lots of encouragement to help them learn without expecting them to be perfect.
It’s not about turning them into little black belts overnight.
It’s about helping them listen, move, focus, try, and grow in confidence one class at a time.
Why should a seven-year-old do martial arts?
Not because they’re worried about getting beaten up. Not because they need to be tougher. And not because they’re being trained to fight.
At that age, martial arts should be fun. It helps children build confidence, coordination, focus and discipline — all while staying active and enjoying themselves.
That’s the real reason to start.

“What if my child doesn’t listen?”
That’s one of the most common worries parents have before starting a class.
But listening is not something children magically arrive with.
It’s something they practise.
In our Tots classes, we work on simple things: standing still, waiting their turn, looking at the instructor, copying a movement, stopping when asked, and trying again.
Some children pick it up quickly. Some take longer.
That’s okay.
The whole point of the class is to help them build those skills in a fun, structured environment.

For 3–6 year olds, fun matters.
But structure matters too.
A good Tots class needs both.
The children should enjoy it, laugh, move, play games and feel excited to come back.
But they should also learn routines, listen to instructions, wait their turn, practise control, and understand that effort matters.
That balance is what we aim for in every class.
Fun enough that they want to join in.Structured enough that they’re actually learning.

The first win in a Tots class is not always a perfect kick.
Sometimes it’s walking in without holding mum or dad’s hand.
Sometimes it’s answering their name.
Sometimes it’s standing in line for ten seconds longer than last week.
Sometimes it’s trying again after getting frustrated.
For 3–6 year olds, these little moments are massive.
That’s why we love teaching this age group.
You get to see confidence being built before it looks like confidence.

They don’t need to be confident to start.
That’s the bit people often get the wrong way round.
Confidence usually comes after they’ve tried something new, felt nervous, had support, joined in anyway, and realised:“I can do this.”
In our Tots classes, we don’t expect children to walk in fearless.
Some are excited straight away. Some are quiet. Some watch first. Some need a little time.
That’s all normal.
The goal is not perfection. The goal is progress.
And for a 3–6 year old, sometimes that progress is simply stepping onto the mats and having a go.
