Thank you to all of the professionals who came in last Friday to run the Festival Safety Mini Roadshow. NHS Inclusion, NHS Sexual Health and Smoke Free Island all provided really useful advice, helping our students to be informed and prepared.
If you are heading to the Isle of Wight Festival this weekend, remember to look after yourselves and each other.

On Tuesday 16 June, over 50 Island VI Form students attended a wide range of online University Taster Lectures. The universities involved included Warwick, Surrey and Edinburgh. Subjects as diverse as Archaeology, Media, Law and Physics were included in the 24 different sessions. These lectures allowed the students to get a feel for what university study will be like, and also an insight into life at the different university providers.

Over the last two weeks, the STEM students have been investigating the use of polarsing filters with microscopes.
First they had to overcome the physical barriers to setting up the microscopes with polarising filters, but then were able to look at various samples with and without the filters. The results were amazing!

Meet the experts this Friday morning ahead of The Isle of Wight Festival!
The Festival Safety Mini Roadshow will take place at the old student entrance from 9 - 12.30 with NHS Inclusion, NHS Sexual Health and Smoke Free Island.

On Tuesday 9th June, Victoria Patel from the University of Brighton came to speak to our Year 12 students about the university application process. Ninety students heard Victoria speak about how they should go about researching courses, universities and the application process for university entry next year.
Victoria also spoke thoroughly about personal statement writing and how this can be an asset when writing job applications as well. The students were also encouraged to sign up for the upcoming Oxford Brookes and Chichester visits as part of their preparation for the post-18 world.
