Social Soundwaves

Going back through the SSW archives today and came across these shots from the ‘NP20 Project’ back at the 2019 ‘Big Splash’ event. Where this inspiring group of young people worked immensely hard to overcome their fear of performing live in front of a crowd.. and boyyy did they SMASH IT!! 💥💥💥💪💪💪

Sessions were held @ the Riverfront every Saturday where they would learn, record and practice both their own original songs as well as some of their favourite cover songs. All in preparation for this nerve racking live performance 🥶 ..which as I said, they absolutely KILLED!! 🔥🎤💙

Today was the last day of an 8 week Music Production project at the Bettws North Hub 🎧
These young prodigy’s learned skills in lyric writing ✍🏼 beat production, recording and live performance 🎤
Supporting each other to write songs and grow the confidence to perform/record them in front of the group.. and they KILLED IT! 💥🔥💙

Was also cool to be able to deliver sessions on my own estate, ironically coming back to an area I used to get into lots of trouble as a kid 🤦🏻‍♂️ lol

🎵 THE ELEVATE PROJECT🎵

For the past 6 weeks we have had the pleasure of supporting this years ‘Elevate’ young artists in their journey towards performing alongside Uk Artists ‘Young T & Bugsey’ at ‘Urban Circles‘ ‘Valentines Concert’ event taking place tomorrow night @ Newport Centre

Since the very first session these guys have displayed nothing but heart, soul and sheer dedication as they reached new levels of both confidence and creativity.

Over the course of the project, they have written/recorded 3 original songs and 1 cover song, which they are now set to perform live on stage supporting a the Uk chart toppers Young T & Busgey.

As always, it is a great pleasure to be part of their journeys and we can’t wait to see them smash it tomorrow night‼️🎙🔊🎶💪🏻

This event is suitable for all ages (Under 12’s with a parent) and TICKETS are on sale at Ticketmaster or directly through Urban Circle 🎫 Tickets will also be on sale at the door.

Last week I was invited to tutor on the annual ‘Rocktober’ Project organised by ‘Rock Club Wales, in association with ‘The Hub’ at Music Box Studios Cardiff.
3 tutors to coach 3 groups of young musicians to become 3 bands within 4 days with live show on the last day! Performing 4 covers and their own original song too!
It was quite the challenge in such a short time frame.. but the results were phenomenal and these lil rockstars killed it!!! 🎸🥁🔥

And on that note.. why don’t these ‘empty shops’ get used for something beneficial to the public while they are ‘empty’ ??
They could be so many things.. workshop spaces, youth clubs, classrooms, refuge/homeless shelters.
The list goes on and on...
