“Joy is the evidence of inner growth.” Dr. Maria Montessori

Lots of outdoor fun this week - we’ve enjoyed some muddy play in the newly improved imagination station area, and finished sowing in our veggie patch and sunflower pots. The leavers have been observing and recording the results of their seed experiment and finding out about food chains involving herbivores and carnivores. Our first parent visit to forest school saw some great trench digging! 🌳

“It is interesting to notice that where life is simple and natural and where the children participate in the adult’s life, they are calm and happy.” Dr. Maria Montessori

We spent time gardening, sowing seeds and baking this week. Often what adults see as chores, the children gain the most joy from.

Our Tiggy’s motto:

‘Learning through freedom, guided by connection’🧩

Choice can look deceptively simple from the outside. A child walks in, scans the shelves, selects an activity, and gets to work.
But something profound is happening beneath the surface. Every time a child chooses, they are being asked to consult an inner voice that most adults have spent years learning to ignore. What am I drawn to today? What feels right? What is alive in me right now?
For the youngest children, this is not a metaphor. It is a real and developing capacity.

The child who is given the daily practice of choosing freely is not just building independence. They are learning to hear themselves. To trust what they hear. And eventually, to live from it.

Every time we protect a child's right to choose freely, we are doing something that goes far beyond classroom management or Montessori philosophy. We are giving them daily practice in the most fundamental knowledge they must have. The knowledge of and connection to themselves.

Happy Easter to all of our families. The children have been very busy creating some unique pieces of art and craft in preparation for today. We hope that you enjoy all their efforts. 🐣 🥰
