🇬🇧👑🇬🇧👑We had a Platinum Jubilee Afternoon Tea for everyone at Tiggy’s 🇬🇧👑🇬🇧👑
A fabulous turnout - 42 of our 51 families came along for cakes we had decorated and to watch our jubilee dance that we had practised. There were flags & hats for everyone too!

Thanks so much to all our wonderful families for supporting our little tea party. It was just like the old (pre-Covid) days with the nursery full with you all ❤️ lovely to see so many of you and be able to chat & mingle.

It’s been a week of lots of collaborative play, constructing dens, tracks and discussing poorly babies.
Lovely to see our youngest children refining their Montessori practical life skills - pouring, peeling, using tongs and spreading at snack time.

We’re sponsoring the child wristbands again and looking forward to entering the painting competition 🎨

We finally got back to Forest School this week🥳 and are now having our lunch there to give us more time to play. The Monday group had beautiful sunshine but the Wednesday group had rain! Thankfully it stopped and left some impressive puddles that simply had to be jumped and played in!

More trips to the woods, learning about Eid, planting and getting crafty - it’s what we do at Tiggy’s!

We’re back from our Easter holidays!!
We made the most of the warm weather this week to get everyone out & about around the the rugby club grounds and adjacent woods. We are so lucky to have all this on our doorstep ❤️
Fresh air + exercise = happy, healthy children.

🌟 NEW WILDLINGS SESSIONS!! 🤩🌟

Attention all Wildings: we are very pleased to announce that we (Shropshire Wildlife Trust) are teaming up with Bournville Village Trust to introduce our brand new Wildlings sessions, based at the squatters cottage at Lightmoor Nature Reserve in Telford! 🍃

Sessions will run every Thursday at the squatters cottage from 10:30am - 12pm, comprised of lots of wild nature-themed activities, and finished off with a yummy snack over the campfire! 😋🔥

We’ve had an ‘egg’cellent last week of term 🐣
Every child painted an egg which are now on display in a High Street shop.....but which one?? Please have a look and find them as they are looking splendid.
At Forest School the two groups had an egg hunt with 40 to find around the site - expertly hidden by our nursery bear, who left a note that we read on arrival. If we found them all, everyone got a chocolate egg!
There was also time during a busy week for a chance to run off some of our energy on the Rugby pitch.
We’re all having a couple of weeks off now 😅 much needed for the staff as 60% of us have had Covid19 since the start of February ..... After 2 years it’s finally got us with just 2 staff yet to have it 🤞

March is always 📚Book Month 📚 at Tiggy’s - a day just isn’t long enough - and we finished with the Gruffalo at Forest School finding a log pile, underground and treetop house for 🐍 🦊 🦉.
We were thrilled to be able to have parents back in to read as this was rudely interrupted by Covid19 in 2020 and unable to happen in 2021.

A special message from us to all our current and ex-Tiggy’s families for the recommendations plus all the new families who are joining us in September or January.

We will now be starting a wait list for children born on/after 01/09/2019 in case any spaces become available before September 2023.

Our older children made seed bombs at Forest School, carefully wrote their name on the label of their Mother’s Day present and explained why they love Mummy ❤️
The younger children took inspiration from the nearby cherry trees to use their finger tips to create a blossom picture 🌸

😍 Our 2022 Red Nose antics for Comic Relief 😍

Another busy week! We had 3 one week old lambs come to visit and we fed them their breakfast.
It was all about volcanoes 🌋 and a hands on experiment for our older children and everyone during ballet when we took off our shoes and socks for a sensory experience on the newspaper.
Our request to parents for donations to go to the Polish border for Ukrainian refugees resulted in a fabulous collection ❤️🇺🇦 Jo took it all on Friday to Stoke and it’s probably on its way across Europe now. We just managed to get it all in her car. Once again, amazing support from our Tiggy’s families - we can’t thank you enough for your generosity 👏
We are relieved to get the staff toilet back though as that’s where we stored it!

We are showing our support for Ukraine by collecting for Ukrainian refugees. If anyone would like to donate, the following are needed:

✅Essential toiletries
✅Nappies
✅Packet foods

Jo has a relative taking a container out to Poland next week that will deliver much needed aid directly to Ukrainian refugees (he’s there at the moment having taken one this weekend).

We’re back after our half term hols, just in time to make scotch pancakes on Tuesday for our snack! On Wednesday we explored the woods and for World Book Day on Thursday we created our own reading train, had a favourite story of Nicola’s and dressed up completely unrelated to WBD (we save that ordeal for school 😂) Our Book month starts next week......👏

We always provide lots of activities to help develop upper body strength - back, shoulders and arms so their muscles can then support wrists, hands and fingers to mark make and eventually write. It’s part of our Montessori Practical Life curriculum using real items - whisking and scrubbing in action this week ✅
Our older children continued their solar system journey by making their own planet 🌏 🪐
It was too windy for Forest School so the Wednesday group had a trip out and discovered water 💦 which required closer inspection 😂.
There was a treat for the staff as a thank you for all their hard work during our Covid19 affected start to 2022.
Some of the staff are off on their hols - London, Lincolnshire, Lake District and even Colorado 🇺🇸 ⛷ - whatever you’re doing, have a happy half term everyone!

Well - that wasn’t the week we were expecting at Tiggy’s HQ! 😫 Our usually fit & very healthy staff team were hit by various illnesses but as we always overstaff the nursery to provide our Montessori care & education (no minimum ratios here!) there were still enough left standing to carry on pretty much as normal 👍 apart from being able to go to Forest School - so it was off out round the Rugby Club grounds instead.
Just shows the importance of our regular lateral flow testing.... and yes 😂 it was the boss who tested positive on Monday morning!
Huge thanks ❤️ to Team Tiggy’s for keeping it all going and for sending photos of what they were up to - looks like a good week!

We started looking at Asia which led us to China and the New Year. A great week of lanterns, kites, dressing up, dragon 🐉 dancing & Chinese ballet, lucky red envelopes 🧧 and making & eating stir fry with chopsticks 🥢

50 bird seed cakes made and we’re ready for the Big Garden Birdwatch this weekend! Happy Twitching 😀

We’ve had lots of hibernating animals in nursery this week and we developed our skills further by making larger dens & shelters at Forest School.

Having an extended period of time & space for child initiated play enables children to be imaginative & creative, which often leads to some interesting constructions ….. and a few reminders about our Montessori ‘cycle of activity’ ! (Return everything to the correct shelves/baskets when finished)

We had a special welcome 🦢🦢on our return to Forest School this week and the resident robin came to say hello too!

Our baking used up bits & bobs left over from our Christmas cakes as well as some overripe bananas found in the kitchen for some fruity vegan flapjacks. Everyone from the oldest to the youngest helps if they want to👩‍🍳🧑‍🍳

We’re looking at hibernation for the next few weeks to give plenty of opportunity to explore & learn - the older children, after finding out about which animals hibernate, made their own dens for them. Can you spot who is sleeping? 🦔🐞🐍🐭

3 days of catching up with friends, ice exploration, developing our fine motor skills, making predictions and geometry.
Best of all, our staff lateral flow test kits arrived 😂.

We had a wonderful Christmas celebration with our older children today. A small audience, altered layout with Covid19 protocols in place including our Government supplied carbon dioxide monitor 😜, enabled the show to go on! - a lovely end to the autumn term and 2021 which has been another ‘strange & challenging’ year …. but throughout, the children have been brilliant and our families so very kind and supportive ❤️ which makes our job that much easier.

🎄Christmas🎄arrived this week with our child decorated tree that takes on many re-incarnations throughout the week. Christmas stories are here and we even tinselled our pumpkin😂
Our final Forest School visit of the year was cancelled due to a fallen tree at the site but we all got to have the hot chocolate and chocolates that Michelle had very kindly provided for both groups 🤩
Today was Christmas Jumper Day - this year, the first of 5 days of our festive outfits, raising money for Save the Children and the Alzheimer’s Society.

We had a Tuesday afternoon run around the rugby fields - think this may have been more for the staff who had filled up on cake earlier in the day 😂.
Beginning of December means only one thing - our annual Christmas cake making.
Our nursery bear, Brown Bear, who has been with us since 2008 😱 was back from another exciting home visit. He took time out for a ‘spa’ day (washing machine 🤫 but don’t tell the little people…) and had a wardrobe sort out. We’d forgotten how many lovely clothes have been made for him over the years by our families - this is just a selection being packed back into his suitcase for his next adventure!

Another fabulous Newport foodbank collection which ran alongside our Children In Need fundraising. The Wednesday afternoon children had lots of sorting practice packing it all up ready to be delivered 👍

And that’s the shop closed for business until November 2022!
Thanks to all our fabulous families for helping us raise a terrific £376, which we will round up to £400, for Children In Need.

Another busy day in our Pudsey shop today! So far, our fabulous little people have raised over £350 🎉😍 As we have had a few off poorly, the shop will be staying open for a couple more days next week as those parents also missed out on the shop last year due to Covid-19 restrictions. A huge thank you to our amazing families for your support ❤️
