Today was a lovely sunny day and some of the Big Investigators got to go on a little trip to the fruit and vegetable shop Farmhouse Fayre. Before we left we made sure we knew what we were doing to keep ourselves safe including to stop, look and listen when we reached the road to make sure it was safe to cross. This week is 'C' week so we decided to find a variety of different fruits and vegetables beginning wit 'C', today we found a cucumber, baby cucumber, carrot, cherry tomato, cress, clementine and a coconut. They all looked so delicious that when we got back to nursery we sat under the tree and had a picnic snack, the fruits and vegetables were delicious. Lots of the chidlren were excited to try the coconut, we thought it would be fun to explore in the tuff tray this week. I wonder what it tastes like... and what is found on the next trip to the fruit and vegetable shop.
Whilst back at nursery the children enjoyed making some very tasty cheddar and carrot bites. The children had to grate the carrots and the cheese carefully, making sure not to grate our fingers and squash them into balls before they went into the oven. The children that made some this afternoon watched Kiera put them in the oven with oven mitts and told her it was so hot that her glasses steamed up! Then the children helped to do the washing up whilst they cooled down. They did a really good job!

This afternoon we enjoyed a trip to Farmhouse Fayre to get some fruit and vegetables. We were on a mission to find some things that began with P! We found lots of fruit like a plum, pineapple, pear and pomegranate. We also found vegetables like potatoes and a purple cabbage!

What amazing weather we have had for our first week of holiday club!☀️

The children have been busy all week being creative, playing games, dancing, using the parachute and making new friends.

On Monday the children got creative out in the sunshine making their own cress heads. They used chalk pens too design their faces and body's on recycled plastic containers. They then added cotton wool and sprinkled some cress seeds inside and gave them a good water, all ready to grow!

The children were set a Lego challenge this Tuesday afternoon to build the best chicks, chickens, ducks or ducklings they could out of Lego within 25 minutes. The standard was high and the children created some fantastic Easter animals.

On Wednesday the children used their artistic skills to create some spring designs on their faces and arms. In partners they painted some beautiful spring flowers and Easter bunnies.

On Thursday the children took part in a game of 'Sink or Float.' They all got creative and designing a fish on one side of a piece of card and a boat on the other. They then took turns to select an item from the spring table and were asked to hold up their fish if they thought it would sink or a boat if they thought it would float. They then placed it in a bowl of water to find out if it would sink or float!

On Friday morning the children had a brilliant time decorating biscuits. They each had a selection of sweets, candy eyes and an icing pen to create their own biscuits faces. They came up with a wide variety of their own ideas, from Easter bunnies to monsters with four eyes and scary aliens.

We can't wait to see what's happening next week at holiday club!!😃
