This magazine is so fantastic. It's a free resource and is packed with information, resources, recipes and activities. A must for all nature based practitioners (although, I would recommend this to everyone regardless 😜).
Happy February! The February 2025 issue of Wild Kids Magazine is up now! 🍁🦉❄️
In this month’s issue, we have some fun nature-themed valentine cards for kids to give out, information on how to tap lots of kinds trees for sap to turn into syrup, a 28 day outdoor exercise tracker (that I’m honestly hoping to use myself this month too to mix things up!), a bird ID challenge, a daily nature photo challenge for the month, ways to learn and play with nature this month, and all of the usual nature study pages, a weather tree, poetry and more.
This month’s issue is 22 pages. As always, it’s in PDF form so you can read it online, send it to your Kindle, or print it out.
And as always, the magazine is 100% ad-free and absolutely free for personal use.
You can download, print or send this month's magazine to your e-reader here: http://magicalchildhood.com/wildkids/2025/02/01/wild-kids-magazine-for-february-2025/

Happy July! 🌼
The July 2024 issue of Wild Kids Magazine is up now! 🐛
In this month’s issue of Wild Kids, we have information on two more plants that are invasive in many places and how people have used them — Asiatic dayflower for making watercolor paint (and eating) and tansy for repelling insects. We also have a mushroom spore print log, a new summer foraging BINGO (check July 2023 for one with another set of summer plants to forage), a July phenology calendar, ways to learn and play in nature this month, and all of the usual nature study pages, a weather tree and more. 🌧
This month’s issue is 20 pages. As always, it’s in PDF form so you can read it online, send it to your Kindle, or print it out. 🌿
And as always, the magazine is 100% ad-free and absolutely free for personal use. 🪶

Today is World Soil Day!
Soil is more than just the earth beneath our feet. It's a foundation of life, nurturing and supporting the ecosystems around us. Its health directly impacts the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the water we drink. In our project, soil symbolises growth, regeneration, and the interconnectedness of all living things.
This session we explored the earth, using its soil to create colour.

I have spent this frosty morning completing training on embracing the Norweigan philosophy of Friluftsliv – literally free, air, life.
I absolutely adore Scandinavian childcare/educational practices. Embracing nature and connecting to the earth. This most definitely is something I bring to my forest school and this morning’s training has inspired me to include more of Friluftsliv philosophies.

YES!!!
"Normalize giving fruit trees, sourdough starter, and your favourite recipes written down as gifts.
Give something that will continue to give for generations, instead of ending up in a landfill."

I saw this post and wanted to share it. A little reminder that Christmas isn’t about the money you spend or how many gifts someone has. It is about the time spent together and doing things that make you and your family happy.
I have been caught up in the cycle of overspending, stressing and trying to match things my children see on social media and realised that I wasn’t actually enjoying Christmas at all. I have changed our Christmas routines, set a realistic and affordable budget that works for us. I hand make many presents that I give to family and friends and since I’ve started doing Christmas my way, I have enjoyed every moment of it!
