Did you know that you could apply for up to 12.5 hours of free childcare from April thanks to the city-wide expansion of the Welsh Government’s Flying Start programme.

The Flying Start team will confirm whether you are eligible. It has been widely advertised that the expansion will cover all of Newport from April, we recommend submitting your interest soon, as they are likely to be receiving a high number of applications.

✨ Exciting News! Flying Start Funded Childcare Now Available at Babes in the Wood Nursery! ✨

We’re thrilled to announce that Babes in the Wood Nursery is now registered with Flying Start, offering up to 12.5 hours per week of funded childcare for eligible families!

What is Flying Start?
Flying Start provides FREE childcare for children from the term after their second birthday until the end of the term in which they turn three. Sessions are available Monday to Friday during term time.

How to Apply:
✅ Check your eligibility based on your postcode
✅ Provide a council tax letter or recent utility bill (dated within three months)
✅ Submit your child’s birth certificate
✅ Complete the application form here:
