What an inspiring day at the Hay Festival!
Our students had the incredible opportunity to hear from amazing authors including Matt Goodfellow, Sarah Crossan and Bernardine Evaristo. Through powerful discussions about poetry, storytelling and creativity, students were encouraged to think deeply about the impact of words and the importance of finding their own voice. The talks were engaging, thought-provoking and full of inspiration, leaving everyone excited about reading and writing poetry in new ways. It was wonderful to see students so enthusiastic and immersed in the experience. A truly memorable day celebrating literature, creativity and the power of poetry!

Thank you to our friends at St Joseph’s Boxing Gym for delivering outstanding sessions to our Y7 students this year.
In the sessions, Y7s were taught boxing techniques and gained a further understanding into maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
We also welcomed Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd, PCSO’s & Police Officers to the school to observe and get involved in a session delivered to 7NAM. They were all fantastic when engaging with our students.
Thank you all for your time.

Our Harry Potter Club students have been busy creating their very own Howlers… and let’s just say, there were some VERY loud messages!
From dramatic deliveries to lots of laughter, it was a fantastic session full of creativity, teamwork, and a little bit of magical mischief.
Who would you send a Howler to?

Izabella Tottle
A group of nominated YR7/YR8 (U13) girls from hockey clubs from all over South Wales were given the opportunity to trial for the South Wales Dragons. This is a private county / region level team that operates outside of the normal hockey session, and the girls get to play against similar clubs across England (during the next 10 weeks ), finishing up at an elite hockey tournament which is held over 3 days in July at the National Hockey Centre in Nottingham.
Izzy was selected to play as a goalkeeper, and the photo is of her receiving her kit presented by Lily Roberts who is a current Welsh International and ex South Wales Dragon.

We are incredibly proud of four of our enthusiastic readers who recently represented us at the National Reading Quiz in London! After triumphing in their regional heat, they went on to represent Wales on a national stage- an amazing achievement in itself.
Competing against 25 winning schools from across the UK, our team showed fantastic knowledge, teamwork and passion for reading. They secured an impressive 9th place overall- a superb result at such a high level!
The event was so much more than a competition. Our students had the opportunity to listen to inspiring talks from well-known authors; take home a collection of fantastic new books and meet and connect with fellow book lovers from across the country.
To top it all off, they were awarded a special prize for a poster they designed for the quiz- a wonderful recognition of their creativity and contribution.
An unforgettable experience, and one that has truly inspired their love of reading even further. We couldn’t be prouder!

Congratulations to Izabella and the rest of the Gwent Hockey U12 Boys for reaching the Welsh finals in Swansea last week. The competition was against the top 2 clubs from both North Wales (Denbigh and Northop Hall) and South Wales (Gwent, Swansea) going head to head. After some very good hockey from all of the Teams, Gwent came second (silver medal), only narrowly losing to Swansea who were the overall Cup winers. Izzy represented the boys as a goalkeeper.
