Looks like the Carisbrooke Songwriters Club is now running weekly! It also has a new name and a new look!

WHAT IS CHRIS QUINTON DOING NOW?

Chris is working with young people inside and outside of mainstream education working in all aspects of music creation and tech. He also runs clubs for 0 to 7 yr olds, introducing children and their parents to music and instruments, as well as a Tech Club for 8 to 16 yr olds - both are held at the IOW Community Centre in Cowes. WHAT IS MARIA WOODFORD DOING NOW?

Maria continues deliver Lyric Writing and Music Composition workshops and lessons in schools and in the community as part of her new project Island Music Makers. She also continues to run The Songwriters Den in Carisbrooke which brings like minded young people together to explore lyric writing and music composition, to try out different instruments, as well as providing opportunities for performances in the community. Starling Songwriters was a hugely successful Island based music project created by Maria Woodford and Chris Quinton in early 2021. They launched and delivered a range of song writing and recording workshops across the Isle of Wight that led to the creation of a wonderful collection of songs written by people of the Isle of Wight. In the wake of a national lockdown they saw a need for the community to find new creative outlets to express themselves, to tell their stories and to discover the joy of writing songs.

All of the songs on this channel were created during the Lyric Writing and Music Composition workshops that Maria Woodford developed and delivered. All of the Recording, Music and Video production was created by Chris Quinton. This channel has been created to document this wonderful project and is a testament to Maria and Chris' hard work and dedication to making music and song writing fun and accessible to the people in their community.

Introducing Chris Quinton… Chris delivers recording experiences and music production workshops for schools and community projects across the island. He works at Cowes Primary delivering lessons in guitar, ukulele and music production and runs a Music Tech Club for 10 to 16 yr olds, as well as an interactive Toddlers music club at the IOW Community Club in Cowes! In the evenings and weekends Chris runs a variety of open mic events, and he regularly gigs solo and as part of several duos and trios such as 'Fools Errand' and 'Jack and Gold' - covering everything from Folk to popular classics. Introducing Maria Woodford… Maria delivers lyric writing and music composition workshops for schools and community projects across the island. She is so incredibly passionate about making music accessible to people of all ages and abilities. Maria runs a Songwriters Club at Carisbrooke Church Hall for 10 to 16 yr olds and also works at Lanesend Primary delivering song writing, guitar and vocal coaching lessons. She is also the front woman for her band Chasing Scarlett who perform original and cover songs influenced by British and US county-folk styles. Does your 10 to 16 yr old want to try their hand at lyric writing or music composition? No music experience needed. The Carisbrooke Songwriters Club runs every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, 3.45 to 5.15 at Carisbrooke Church Hall. It's a really relaxed and creative environment and a chance to meet new like minded friends.
