Any musical theatre fans out there? Jessie & I had an exciting day yesterday!

Lesley Odom Jr in Hamilton (Jessie's favourite) then Sierra Boggess in Phantom (my favourite). Both were incredible.

Never done a 2 show day before - we had a fab time but were very tired on our way home! Nice walk past Buckingham Palace on the way to Phantom to avoid rush hour Underground.

Hope you're having a lovely summer!

One of the aspects parents mention in their feedback testimonials is my patient and encouraging approach - and it's something I value hugely.

Every student learns differently. Sometimes all it takes is explaining a topic in a new way, breaking it down into smaller steps, or giving a student the confidence to keep going when they find something challenging.

With over 20 years of teaching experience, I know that confidence grows when students feel supported, not pressured.

That's why I aim to create online sessions that are positive, engaging and welcoming, where students feel comfortable asking questions (and where they can use the Chat function so there is no being put on the spot), making mistakes and celebrating their progress along the way.

This lovely testimonial from the parent of one of my Year 11 students really made me smile:

"Helen is a fantastic tutor, she is extremely patient and delivers the sessions in a very upbeat manner."

Comments like this remind me why I love what I do. πŸ’›

If your son or daughter would benefit from supportive, structured GCSE Maths support that builds both knowledge and confidence, I'd love to help. Limited spaces available for summer 2027!

"Choose people who lift you up." Being a teenager isn't always easy.

There can be so much pressure - from school, exams, friendships and trying to work out who you are and who you want to be. Add GCSE Maths into the mix, and it's no surprise that some students begin to doubt themselves after a disappointing test, mock exam or when they come across a topic they find difficult.

That's why one of the most important parts of my job isn't just teaching Maths.

It's helping students recognise what they can do, celebrating every step of progress and reminding them that one tricky topic or one disappointing result doesn't define their ability.

Confidence grows when students feel supported, encouraged and safe to keep trying.

I love seeing that moment when a student goes from saying, "I can't do this," to "I think I've got it!" That's what moving from Maths confused to Maths confident is all about.

Hope you're all having a nice summer so far! See you online soon!

What does a Maths tutor do when she's not teaching Maths.....?

This one loves music festivals & very excited to be at Camp Bestival this weekend! After a lot of queuing this morning, the tent is up & we've had a nice wander around the site! Looking forward to seeing Billy Ocean live tomorrow.

Hope you're having a lovely summer so far! See you online soon!

One of my favourite things about teaching is seeing students grow in confidence over time.

This lovely student first joined my Key Stage 2 group sessions in Year 6 and having continued her Maths journey with me in my Key Stage 3 Maths Confidence group sessions she is now preparing to sit her Higher GCSE Maths papers. It's been such a privilege to watch her confidence and understanding continue to develop.

Receiving feedback like this from her parent really made my day:

"We have seen her confidence levels grow in Maths at school and in completing homework."

That transformation is exactly what my sessions are all about - building strong foundations, increasing confidence and helping students enjoy Maths along the way.

And yes… the weekly Maths games are always a hit too! πŸŽ‰ Whether it's Bingo or Blooket, they're a great way to reinforce learning while having fun.

✨ I currently have a limited number of spaces available in my online:
πŸ“š Wednesday 5pm Key Stage 3 Maths Confidence Group
πŸ“š Thursday 5pm Key Stage 3 Maths Confidence Group

These small group sessions are ideal for students in Years 7, 8 and 9 who would benefit from structured support, increased confidence and a boost with their Maths learning.

If you'd like to find out more or reserve one of the remaining places, just send me a message. See you online soon!
