🌟 Enhorabuena! to our amazing Year 7 students who represented Mercia Academy at the MFL Spelling Champ Final at Judgemeadow!
This was a big milestone for us, as it was the first time Mercia has taken part in this event. Our five finalists earned their place through two stages of competition – first in their classes, and then across the whole school – a fantastic achievement in itself!
They showed great bravery, resilience and a very positive attitude throughout — we couldn’t be prouder of them. ¡Bien hecho! 👏

Today, Miss Austin, Miss Carleton and Mrs Copley took 30 students from Years 7–10 to see Little Shop of Horrors at Derby Theatre.
The trip was a fantastic success—the students thoroughly enjoyed the performance, and their behaviour was exemplary throughout, exceeding all expectations.
It was a wonderful afternoon filled with laughter and enjoyment for everyone involved.

The World Cup has kicked off in style this week with our KS3 students partaking in a "Where in the World " challenge.
Students selected a competing country at random and used resources and books in the library to identify the flags from the competing nations.
They were then tasked with finding some interesting facts about their chosen country.
Loads of achievement points awarded and a sweet treat for the first three competitors to complete the challenge in each class.
It’s important to remind students that just because the England Men’s football team were entertaining to watch for once - that it’s important not to get carried away 🏴
Ps it’s coming home 🏆
