Due to the severe weather conditions and significant snowfall overnight, we have taken the difficult decision to close the school today.

A number of staff are unable to travel safely to work, resulting in a staffing shortage that prevents us from operating the school safely. In addition, the surrounding roads and pathways are extremely hazardous, making the journey to and from school unsafe for pupils, families, and staff.

The safety of our school community is always our highest priority, and closing the school is the most responsible course of action under the current conditions.

We will continue to monitor the weather closely and will update you regarding reopening as soon as it is safe to do so. Please check your email, the school website, and our social media channels for further updates.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Dear Parents and carers,

I am writing to acknowledge the concerns surrounding the forecasted arrival of Storm Goretti and the potential impact it may have on school operations.

Please be assured that we are closely monitoring the weather updates and will continue to do so overnight. Any decisions regarding a possible school closure will be made with the safety of our pupils, families, and staff as our highest priority. While it is possible that the school may need to close, no decision will be taken lightly or without careful risk assessment.

We will review all available information and communicate our decision to you as soon as it is made. I fully appreciate that school closures can cause significant disruption, and I want to reassure you that we will only take such action if the conditions genuinely require it.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

We have full access to the internet restored. Phone lines are working again.

05/01/2026

Good morning.

The internet and by proxy, phone lines are down at school. This means you will be unable to call us and we are unable to access SEESAW and ParentMail.

Derbyshire will not be able to support us with this until after 9am.

Please send any messages you need to reach us through the page for this morning and we will try to access these and pick them up as they arrive.

We can still use our mobile devices to call out in an emergency but these may not be used in classes once pupils have arrived.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Kind regards,

Mr Reeves

If you have a child in Year 5 or 6, then we still have places for the 2026 visit to Paris! A year and a half ago children experienced some wonderful times and unforgettable ice creams - I mean memories - with their friends. Just ask Angus!

Costing just Β£449 for four days away, it really is a fantastic chance to experience France with their friends. Contact school if you would like to reserve a place for June 12th!

Postcard from Angus:
I had a really awesome time in Paris. It was so good being there with my friends. Going up the Eiffel Tower was one of my best bits, and Mr Reeves buying us ice-cream. I've told my brother he has to go!

Following a series of complaints we must remind you about taking care when parking outside the school.

Near misses and endangering children is unacceptable, and we will be reporting unsafe driving and mounting kerbs whilst children are walking past to the Police.

We would never want you to challenge unsafe driving directly but reporting this to ourselves and the police could have a positive impact and safeguard pupils.

Thank you for your vigilance this morning and for reporting incidents to us in school.
