Attention A Level Biology Students!

Get to grips with the basics! It's amazing the number of year 13 students I meet who still get proteins, carbohydrates and lipids jumbled up, they can't tell their elbow from an amino acid.

Whichever exam board you are sitting, so much of the syllabus builds upon the biological molecules introduced at the beginning of year 12. I know it can be daunting (especially for students not taking chemistry) but if you put the work in early to get your head around the building blocks it will pay dividends later. So many seemingly tough exam questions boil down to requiring basic knowledge of condensation, hydrolysis, phospholipids and particularly protein structure. Learn it know before it's too late!
